When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Furqan and surrounding areas hold modern medical facilities spread across large grounds with adequate parking and space between buildings, making it easier for the service team to reach units and move equipment. Hospitals here depend on complex central air conditioning linking operating theatres, intensive care units and laboratories, and any delay in preventive maintenance threatens patient safety. The relatively newer building design allows simpler planning and installation than older districts.

Al Furqan lies in north Jeddah, a modern district with medical and residential facilities spread across wide grounds and developed infrastructure.

Most hospitals here use central air conditioning with ducted systems distributed across multiple departments and separate rooms.

The AC setup in Al Furqan

  1. 1

    Multi-zone central systems

Large hospitals here require complex central cooling serving operating theatres, intensive care and labs with strictly controlled temperature and humidity.

  2. 2

    Distributed ducting with multi-layer filtration

Medical departments need clean, particle-free air, so the ducting includes high-efficiency filters to protect patients from contaminants.

  3. 3

Multiple outdoor units on the roof

Hospitals here use multiple roof-mounted outdoor units distributed to share the load and ensure operations continue if one unit fails.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Furqan

  1. 1

Obtain hospital management approval in advance

Any maintenance in the hospital requires coordination with management and the relevant departments to avoid clashing with surgical schedules and treatments.

  2. 2

Ensure roof access and outdoor unit visibility

Confirm the roof is safe and accessible, and that outdoor units and main ducts can be inspected and serviced without obstruction.

  3. 3

Prepare electrical circuit and power line details

Send details of the electrical circuits powering the system and available voltage so we can verify they match maintenance and upgrade requirements.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Do you service large hospitals in Al Furqan?

Yes, we service large hospitals and clinics in Al Furqan, coordinating maintenance with each department's management to avoid disrupting patient care or staff operations.

Our location is far from central Jeddah, how long does a visit take?

The drive from central Jeddah to Al Furqan is straightforward via main roads, and we can reach your site easily. We schedule visits with hospital management according to the pre-planned maintenance calendar.

Heat and humidity are high here, does that affect the AC systems?

Yes, north Jeddah faces intense heat and humidity swings that stress condensers and pumps. Regular maintenance and frequent cleaning of condenser coils are essential to maintain steady performance.

Can outdoor units be mounted on the roof with adequate power supply?

Hospital roofs here are typically large and safe for outdoor units. We check the electrical runs and roof load capacity before installation to ensure stability.
