When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Nuzha is a modern central district in Jeddah's heart, holding major hospitals and specialist clinics in tall buildings with sometimes limited roof space. Buildings are modern with high interiors, but available roof area may be tighter than northern districts, requiring careful design of outdoor unit placement and sizing. Cooling demand is very high and sensitivity to any stoppage is critical, especially in theatres, intensive care and emergency units.

Al Nuzha lies in central Jeddah, a modern area with major hospitals and large clinics in tall buildings on tight sites.

Most central hospitals here run powerful central cooling systems, with outdoor units spread across limited roofs and sometimes on upper-floor facades.

The AC setup in Al Nuzha

  1. 1

Central cooling on limited roof space

Central hospitals need multiple outdoor units distributed across tight roofs or upper facades.

  2. 2

Backup chiller clusters for critical safety

Critical departments need multiple backup units that activate automatically at any failure.

  3. 3

Insulated vertical and horizontal distribution ducts

In tall buildings, ducts run vertically through internal shafts and horizontally through ceilings to reach every department.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Nuzha

  1. 1

    Coordinate with major hospital administration

Prior agreement with administration on maintenance schedule and affected departments to ensure medical operations continue.

  2. 2

    Verify roof and high-facade safety

Ensure roofs are safe and any upper facades used are appropriate and secure for mounting outdoor units.

  3. 3

Obtain full electrical and distribution map

A complete map of duct routes and electrical runs helps us assess the system and plan future maintenance.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Al Nuzha's tall buildings have tight roofs, how do you design cooling for limited roof space?

We design multiple smaller outdoor units instead of one large one, or use upper-floor facades if the roof is very tight.

How do you maintain a large central hospital with continuous operations?

We plan maintenance with hospital management at set intervals, and work on backup zones to ensure theatres and intensive care never stop.

Central city heat and humidity, do they affect system efficiency?

Yes, central Jeddah is hotter and more humid due to dense building and sea proximity, so we calculate heat load for these central-city conditions with extra safety margin.

Outdoor units are spread across multiple points, how do you handle power distribution?

We run separate feeds from the main switchboard to each unit cluster, managing different electrical loads on each line.
