When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Tilal is a newly developed urban district east of Jeddah, marked by spacious, low-rise buildings with green areas and large car parks. Modern hospitals and clinics here have large spaces between departments and wide roofs allowing full central HVAC systems. This modern layout offers greater design and maintenance flexibility, but requires long copper runs and smart controls to ensure balanced air distribution across all departments.

Al Tilal lies in east Jeddah, a newly developed district with spacious buildings and modern hospitals and advanced medical centres.

Modern hospitals in Al Tilal typically use central HVAC systems with medium or large package units rather than independent splits.

The AC setup in Al Tilal

  1. 1

Large central package units on roofs

New hospitals in Al Tilal rely on high-capacity package units placed on wide roofs for central air distribution.

  2. 2

    Flexible ductwork between spaced departments

Large distances between departments need well-insulated, carefully routed ductwork to maintain distribution efficiency and noise control.

  3. 3

Smart control systems with temperature sensors

Modern central systems need distributed sensors in each department to achieve consistent temperature balance across all zones.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Tilal

  1. 1

Full building survey and architectural plans

We need complete copies of the hospital's architectural and engineering plans and a detailed survey of dimensions, heights and sensitive department locations.

  2. 2

Identify the main unit location and primary ductwork paths

Identify available roofs and main corridors on lower floors or walls for routing ductwork from the external unit to departments.

  3. 3

Plan installation and maintenance schedule without service disruption

Discuss with hospital management installation, testing and commissioning phases to prevent medical service disruption, and select suitable times for regular maintenance.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Is central HVAC better than separate units for large hospitals here?

Yes, large hospitals in Al Tilal benefit from central systems that provide uniform air distribution and precise temperature control for all departments from one point.

Do Al Tilal's wide roofs make external unit installation and maintenance easier?

Absolutely, the spacious layout and open planning make it easier to place external units and ductwork and provide better safety for the team during maintenance.

How much copper piping does a large central system need?

It depends on the distance between the external unit and departments, but central systems in Al Tilal typically need copper runs of 100 metres or more.

Can the system be expanded later if the hospital adds new departments?

Yes, we design central systems with flexibility to add new branches and piping to existing ductwork without needing to replace the entire system.
