When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Wadiyah is a relatively older residential district compared to other northern areas, with mid-rise buildings mixing housing, clinics and medical services. Buildings here are more crowded and streets narrower than the newer northern districts, making duct and wiring routes more complex. Medical departments need steady regular maintenance, but tight spaces call for careful planning before installation and service to avoid disrupting patients and staff.

Al Wadiyah is in north Jeddah, an older residential district with mid-rise buildings and medical services scattered among dense housing.

Clinics and small hospitals in Al Wadiyah use a mix of large split systems and ceiling units, with few large central systems due to space constraints.

The AC setup in Al Wadiyah

  1. 1

Multiple split systems in smaller clinics

Many clinics in Al Wadiyah use several separate split units, one per department or room, because space is tight and central ducting is difficult.

  2. 2

    Ceiling units with limited ducts

Some larger clinics install one or two ceiling units with small ducts fitting within the older building's cavities.

  3. 3

Compact chiller systems in small hospitals

Small hospitals in Al Wadiyah may choose compact chillers placed in tight plant rooms, with limited chilled-water distribution.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Wadiyah

  1. 1

Confirm the nearest safe parking for team and equipment

Al Wadiyah streets are narrow, so confirm safe parking close to the building before the visit.

  2. 2

Confirm safe access to roof and tight spaces

Inspect stairs, passages and roofs, and confirm they are safe and can accommodate team equipment before the visit day.

  3. 3

Coordinate with hospital staff and patients about maintenance timing

Notify management and affected departments of maintenance time in advance to avoid service disruption and disturbance.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Buildings in Al Wadiyah are older, can old wiring handle the electrical load of a new cooling system?

We inspect electrical circuits thoroughly before design. If capacity is limited, we may recommend partial electrical upgrade or split the system across separate circuits.

Al Wadiyah streets are narrow, how do you get large outdoor units to the roofs?

We assess the route from street to roof before ordering. We may use a crane or disassemble the unit temporarily and move it in sections, depending on building and street conditions.

The older construction means narrow ducts, can you install central cooling?

Yes, but we design ducts to fit available spaces. We may use flexible or oval-section ducts in tight passages.

The clinic is next to residential flats, will unit noise disturb neighbours?

We select outdoor units with low noise levels and may fit sound barriers if needed, and schedule maintenance away from sleep hours.
