When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Khaleej's modern buildings efficiently distribute diverse departments, emergency, inpatient, radiology, each with different cooling specs based on medical function. The district is growing fast and many new hospitals choose this location, so modern construction allows advanced central systems with digital control networks. Regular maintenance demands close coordination with medical staff to prevent any sudden lapse in environmental control.

Al Khaleej is a modern district in north Jeddah hosting specialist hospitals, medical centres and high-rise residential blocks.

Systems here are typically large-capacity central units with smart zone controllers per floor or department, and copper and power runs are usually well-documented and up to date.

The AC setup in Al Khaleej

  1. 1

    High-capacity central multi-department system

Most modern hospitals in Al Khaleej rely on a powerful main cooling plant with separate ductwork networks and smart zone valves for each department.

  2. 2

Digital control systems and advanced sensors

Digital controllers linked to central monitoring and precision sensors in theatres and intensive care track temperature and humidity in real time.

  3. 3

Updated and documented copper and power runs

Modern systems here benefit from precise documentation of copper and power line routes, simplifying maintenance and future upgrades.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Khaleej

Obtain a diagram of the central system and departments

Bring a building diagram showing the main unit location, ductwork, and terminal units, plus a list of which departments connect to each zone.

  2. 2

Coordinate inspection timing with clinical operations

Contact the operations manager or maintenance chief to agree on inspection times that do not clash with theatre schedules or critical clinics.

  3. 3

Bring the latest service report and performance data

Prepare the last maintenance report, monthly temperature and humidity logs, and power bills to assess progress since the last visit.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Are you experienced with smart control systems in modern hospitals?

Yes, we work with digital control systems and advanced sensors, and can integrate data with your existing building management system if needed.

Our new hospital needs cooling for advanced procedures; how do you handle future expansion?

We design new systems with spare capacity and expandable ductwork, so new departments and theatres can be added without rebuilding the whole system.

Does Jeddah's high humidity affect operating theatre sensors?

Yes, humidity affects sensor accuracy, so we choose industrial-grade units resistant to it and calibrate them regularly to ensure precise medical readings.

How often do you recommend checking the central system for a hospital?

We recommend inspection at least every three months, with filter and ductwork cleaning and checks on compressors and evaporators to keep performance reliable.
