When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

The hospital buildings on the North Corniche are modern and spacious, spread across multiple floors with diverse departments, each with different cooling demands: operating theatres need precise temperature and humidity control far more than admin areas. The coastal expansion means outdoor units face salt and sea moisture directly, requiring deeper maintenance and specialist spares. Coordination with hospital management is essential to avoid any break in critical services.

The North Corniche is a modern coastal district in north Jeddah, home to advanced hospitals and clinics with tall commercial buildings.

Most hospital cooling systems here are central multi-zone with separate controls per room, and the outdoor units run long copper and power lines across the roof or outer walls.

The AC setup in North Corniche

  1. 1

    Multi-zone central system

Most North Corniche hospitals use a unified central cooling plant with separate ductwork and independent controls for each critical department or room.

  2. 2

Outdoor units on roofs and exterior walls

Large outdoor units sit on hospital roofs or coastal-facing walls, with copper runs and power lines that may exceed fifty metres.

  3. 3

    Separate temperature and humidity sensors

Operating theatres and intensive care have precision sensors and standalone thermostats to maintain the required medical environment.

Before the visit

Before our visit in North Corniche

  1. 1

Coordinate the project with hospital management before start

Notify hospital management well in advance of design and maintenance dates, and clarify which departments need temporary standdown and which can operate during service.

  2. 2

Confirm location of outdoor units and ductwork

Confirm safe access to the roofs and exterior walls where units are mounted, and map the copper and power line routes.

  3. 3

Gather current sensor readings and performance data

Collect recent temperature and humidity readings from theatres and intensive care, and central system logs to assess performance before the visit.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Can you service the cooling system without shutting down hospital departments?

Yes, we coordinate with hospital management to schedule maintenance during quieter periods, and work through the system in stages to keep each department in a controlled environment.

Sea salt and coastal humidity affect our outdoor units; how do you handle that?

Sea salt and coastal moisture speed up corrosion of pipes and aluminium, so we clean outdoor units regularly and replace worn parts before performance suffers.

Operating theatres need very precise temperature and humidity; how do you ensure this?

We install separate monitoring and control equipment in theatres and intensive care, and run periodic checks to keep readings within medical specifications.

Can the central system be expanded if the hospital adds new departments?

Yes, we survey the hospital first and design the system with spare capacity for future expansion, and can add new control units within the existing network.
