Retail cooling without downtime
Mall & retail HVAC in North Corniche
On North Corniche, shops and small malls need AC that handles intense heat, coastal humidity and the rapid swings in foot traffic throughout the day. Alrabih designs a system that balances the shifting thermal load, keeps stock dry and copes with high lighting.

When you need a retail HVAC specialist
- 1
A new mall or shopping centre
A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.
- 2
An existing shop with uneven cooling
The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.
- 3
Condensate dripping on shelves or display
A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.
Who it's for
Opening a new shop inside a mall
We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.
Ask on WhatsAppManaging an existing commercial complex
We review the existing system and set a preventive and corrective maintenance contract scheduled outside trading hours so tenants are not affected.

- Ductwork from our workshop
- Maintenance contracts off peak
How we work
How we work
- 1
Site survey and loads
We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.
- 2
Design and materials
We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.
- 3
Installation coordinated on site
We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.
- 4
Start-up and maintenance contract
We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.
Designed for the space or just fitted?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| Air distribution | Load study per zone | One unit for the whole space |
| Ductwork | G90 sheet, sized for the job | Off-the-shelf wrong size |
| Condensate | Dedicated line away from stock | Risk of drips on shelves |
| Maintenance | Scheduled outside shop hours | Surprise outage during trade |
| Copper purity | Mueller copper, 99% pure, no welds | Unspecified pipe source |

What sets this district apart
North Corniche holds mid-sized malls and shop rows facing the sea directly, so they take unshielded sun and high humidity year-round. Shop doors open constantly onto hot, moist air, interior lighting is bright to draw customers, and that load on the AC builds fast. The central or multi-split systems here must re-cool quickly and shed excess moisture before it damages stock or slicks the floors.
North Corniche sits on Jeddah's northern seafront, a district of modern malls and shop rows facing the sea, with intense heat and high coastal humidity.
Most shops and malls here run central AC or multiple split units because of the large floor areas and heavy thermal load.
The AC setup in North Corniche
- 1
Central system with distribution ducts
Larger malls and shops here benefit from one central unit with ducts distributing cold air to each shop section.
- 2
Multiple split units for standalone shops
Standalone shops on the Corniche use multiple split units, each one balancing temperature in a shop section.
- 3
Package units on the roof
Some mid-sized malls use packaged rooftop units that combine cooling and drainage without separate ducting.
Before the visit
Before our visit in North Corniche
- 1
Ensure roof access for the team
Most outdoor units sit on the roof or sea-facing facade, so confirm the team can reach them safely before the appointment.
- 2
Coordinate with mall management or shop owner
If servicing requires partial shutdown, notify management in advance to avoid disrupting customers or sales.
- 3
Locate drainage outlets and duct runs
Identify where the drainage lines and ducts run before the visit so the team can clean them efficiently without damage.

FAQ
Questions about Mall & retail HVAC
How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?
An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.
Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?
Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.
Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?
A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.
How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?
Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.
Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?
The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.
My shop doors open straight onto the hot street; how does the AC keep up?
The central or multi-split system continuously rebuilds cold pressure even with frequent door opening. We recommend regular filter and coil checks because the hot incoming air carries extra load.
High coastal humidity causes dampness on the floor; how do you stop it?
Humidity collects in the drain pan and ducts. We ensure drain lines are completely clear and clean the coils and ducts regularly to prevent mould growth and moisture pooling.
My shop lighting is very bright and adds heat; does that affect the unit size needed?
Yes, the heat load from bright lighting is factored into the design. We calculate the shop's total thermal load from lighting hours, floor area and expected foot traffic to size the unit correctly.
The outdoor unit sits on a sun-facing roof all day; does intense heat affect it?
Yes, direct sun raises the outdoor unit's temperature and cuts its efficiency. We recommend installing a shade canopy or windscreen over it, and cleaning it regularly of dust and salt spray.
