When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Umm Hablain Al Sharqiyah is a moderate-density residential and medical zone in east Jeddah, with specialist hospitals and healthcare facilities on a smaller scale. Hospitals here need AC systems that cope with fluctuating loads, as some departments may run at full capacity while others sit quieter. Routine maintenance requires careful scheduling to avoid affecting patients, and working closely with medical and administrative staff is essential for any service to succeed.

Umm Hablain Al Sharqiyah is in east Jeddah, a moderate-density area with specialist hospitals and reasonably wide roads.

Hospital AC systems here blend centralised and split units, depending on when the building was constructed and any later expansions.

The AC setup in Umm Hablain Al Sharqiyah

  1. 1

Mix of centralised and split systems

Some hospital departments may rely on an older centralised system, while newer wards have separate split units, and we manage both together.

  2. 2

Condensers mounted on roofs and side walls

Limited hospital space forces condenser placement on roofs or side walls, requiring careful installation and robust mounting.

  3. 3

Flexible control points for multiple wards

Each ward may have its own control point, and some departments may require different temperatures based on the type of care provided.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Umm Hablain Al Sharqiyah

  1. 1

Confirm medical staff availability for coordination

Ensure a medical or administrative staff member is available to coordinate with the maintenance team throughout the visit.

  2. 2

Specify access routes to departments and units

Tell us the safe access routes to outdoor and indoor units, and avoid medical corridors that are restricted or reserved for clinical staff.

  3. 3

Share the maintenance plan with the hospital before arrival

Clarify which departments will be serviced first and the expected duration, so the medical team can adjust their schedule accordingly.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Our hospital has recently added new wings, can you work with mixed cooling systems?

Yes, we assess both old and new systems and design them to work harmoniously. We may expand the central system or add units according to the new departments' needs.

What if there is limited outdoor space for condenser units at the hospital?

We find alternative solutions such as roof or side-wall mounting, and may use a scalable cooling system that avoids significantly enlarging outdoor units.

Does humidity in Umm Hablain affect the hospital's electrical controls and sensors?

Yes, humidity can affect sensors and electrical converters. We select moisture-resistant components and clean devices regularly to maintain reading accuracy.

The roads to the hospital can be congested, how do you reach it quickly in emergencies?

We keep a response-ready team stationed in east Jeddah. During emergency calls, we plan the fastest route based on traffic conditions, and prioritise restoring the system as quickly as possible.
