Retail cooling without downtime
Mall & retail HVAC in Al Fardous
In Al Fardous, north Jeddah, upmarket malls and premium retail shops face intense outdoor heat throughout the day. HVAC design here demands a fine balance between absorbing fluctuating loads and protecting stock from moisture damage.

When you need a retail HVAC specialist
- 1
A new mall or shopping centre
A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.
- 2
An existing shop with uneven cooling
The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.
- 3
Condensate dripping on shelves or display
A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.
Who it's for
Opening a new shop inside a mall
We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.
Ask on WhatsAppManaging an existing commercial complex
We review the existing system and set a preventive and corrective maintenance contract scheduled outside trading hours so tenants are not affected.

How we work
How we work
- 1
Site survey and loads
We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.
- 2
Design and materials
We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.
- 3
Installation coordinated on site
We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.
- 4
Start-up and maintenance contract
We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.
Designed for the space or just fitted?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| Air distribution | Load study per zone | One unit for the whole space |
| Ductwork | G90 sheet, sized for the job | Off-the-shelf wrong size |
| Condensate | Dedicated line away from stock | Risk of drips on shelves |
| Maintenance | Scheduled outside shop hours | Surprise outage during trade |
| Copper purity | Mueller copper, 99% pure, no welds | Unspecified pipe source |

What sets this district apart
Al Fardous is an upmarket district with modern, spacious buildings, and its premium shops draw variable crowds at different times. That means HVAC systems manage rapid swings in cooling demand, peak hours need full capacity, quiet periods benefit from reduced energy draw. We install units with smart lighting and ventilation controls, scheduling maintenance at times that do not disrupt customer access.
Al Fardous is in north Jeddah and houses upmarket shopping centres and premium retail spread across a modern layout.
Premium shops here typically use multiple split units or central HVAC with zone control for different sections.
The AC setup in Al Fardous
- 1
Multi-split with zone control
Premium shops use multi-split systems with zone control that divides the shop into sections with different thermal loads.
- 2
Central HVAC with advanced filtration
Large shopping centres rely on central systems with high-efficiency filters to purify air and protect customers.
- 3
Supplementary cooling near entrance doors
Supplementary units sit near entrances to buffer the heat shock from frequent door openings.

FAQ
Questions about Mall & retail HVAC
How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?
An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.
Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?
Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.
Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?
A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.
How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?
Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.
Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?
The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.
Footfall varies widely in my shop, does the cooling adapt to it?
We choose units with variable fan speeds or advanced controls that reduce capacity during quiet periods and ramp up at peak times.
Guests open the glass doors quickly and often, how do you maintain the cold?
We position air returns near the entrance and may add supplementary cooling near the door to absorb the heat shock.
The shop has elaborate LED lighting, is that factored into the cooling load?
Yes, our load calculation includes LED count, wattage and task lighting, and we size the unit based on the total actual heat load.
The display requires very low humidity to protect the merchandise, how do you ensure that?
We install efficient drainage systems and use units with precise humidity control, backed by regular maintenance to confirm peak drain performance.
