When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Abeer is a rapidly developing district with medium-sized malls, specialist shops and modern shopping centres with spacious car parks, making team and equipment access straightforward. Shops here use large windows and glass frontages to draw customers, creating high heat loads especially at peak hours. Central or semi-central systems are common in these retail spaces and need regular upkeep to keep temperature balanced across sales areas and back stores alike.

Al Abeer lies in north Jeddah, a district of relatively modern shops and malls with organised car parks.

Most retail units here run a central system or multiple split units distributed across sales zones.

The AC setup in Al Abeer

  1. 1

    Central or semi-central HVAC system

Most modern malls in Al Abeer have a central system serving sales floors, corridors and storage from one or more outdoor units.

  2. 2

Additional split units for high-heat zones

Larger shops with glass frontages often need extra split units in sun-facing or high-traffic zones to balance cooling.

  3. 3

    Back storage with separate cooling

Back stores and closed sections typically have a separate cooling system to shield sensitive goods from temperature fluctuations on the sales floor.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Abeer

  1. 1

Tell us the quietest times for a visit

Busy shops run packed all day, so pick an early morning or late evening slot to minimise disruption to customers and staff.

  2. 2

Ensure access to all outdoor HVAC units

Outdoor units are often on the roof or in a restricted service area, so confirm in advance that our team can reach them safely.

  3. 3

Clear the space around indoor units

Indoor units may be in tight spaces or closed rooms, so clear away stock and furniture to let the team work safely.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

How do you handle the temperature swings from doors opening all day?

We advise regular maintenance and adjusting thermostat settings for peak trading hours, plus timely filter cleaning to reduce the extra heat load from constant door openings.

My shop is busy out front and has a back store, how does the system zone these areas?

It depends on your current system design. In multi-zone shops, we install separate thermostats for each area or add extra split units in the back store to ensure independent cooling.

Sun hits my shop's glass frontage all day, does that spike the electricity use?

Yes, large glass frontages significantly raise heat load, especially in morning and midday hours. Regular duct cleaning and evaporator coil maintenance improve system efficiency and reduce electricity costs.

How often should I service the AC in a busy retail shop?

Busy retail shops and malls need servicing every month or two due to heavy use, including filter and coil cleaning and checking the compressor and thermostat.
