When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Safwah is a modern growth area with mid-sized malls, adjacent retail units and mixed residential towers, all with glass facades and open entrances facing direct heat all day. This building type needs a powerful AC system that compensates for continuous heat loss from doors and windows, and must be designed to run during off-peak hours to avoid disrupting shoppers.

Al Safwah lies in east Jeddah, a modern commercial and residential expansion zone with malls, residential towers and diverse retail units.

Most malls and larger retail units here run central AC with roof-mounted package units to cover the wide floor plans and long passages.

The AC setup in Al Safwah

  1. 1

Central system with roof-mounted package units

Large malls in Al Safwah use rooftop units that distribute air through shared ductwork to passages and retail units.

  2. 2

Independent splits for separate small retail units

Separate retail units and adjacent residential blocks often need independent split units due to divided ownership.

  3. 3

Multi-zone system with interior zone and heat-loaded entrance zone

Entrances and glass atriums receive stronger cold air flow, while interior passages are lighter cooling zones.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Safwah

  1. 1

    Confirm timing with mall management

Coordinate the visit with mall management at least a week ahead, since major maintenance may require closing certain sections.

  2. 2

Confirm access to roof and plant rooms

Check that the roof and plant rooms below or beside the mall can be safely accessed for inspection and servicing.

  3. 3

Prepare a list of faults and visible problems

Before the visit, note any strange noises, hot spots or water leaks, and tell our team to speed up the diagnosis.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

How do I keep temperatures stable when customer crowds peak in the afternoon?

The system is sized to deliver extra cooling capacity during peak hours, adjusted for expected foot traffic and lighting load. Load testing at installation confirms the system can cope.

With doors open all day, will my electricity bill spike dramatically?

Heat loss from open doors is real and factored into the design, but modern building standards and efficient compressors reduce consumption, and upgrading passages and insulation helps too.

Moisture from heavy foot traffic and open doors damages stock, how do you protect it?

The central system includes an extra dehumidifier or high-capacity cooling unit, and condensate drainage is set to run continuously during operating hours.

When can you service the system without shutting the mall down?

Coordinate with mall management to schedule early morning or late evening maintenance before or after opening, with quick inspections during hours for emergency repairs.
