When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Shuwaidi is a northern district with medium-sized shopping centres and diverse shops spread along a wide main street. Spaces are generous but cooling works hard because doors face direct north sun and hot air head-on. Humidity is lower than coastal zones, but dust and heat demand frequent filter and duct cleaning. Central systems with multiple outdoor units are the standard solution.

Al Shuwaidi sits in northern Jeddah along a wide main street, a district of modern, medium-sized shopping centres.

Most shopping centres here run medium-capacity central systems, with outdoor units on roofs or open side yards.

The AC setup in Al Shuwaidi

  1. 1

    Central system with thermal balancing

The system balances thermal load across the shopping centre's sections, with separate control for each zone.

  2. 2

    Multiple outdoor units on roof

Several outdoor units on the roof provide backup during maintenance and share the load.

  3. 3

Expanded ducts for high air volume

Distribution ducts are oversized to ensure adequate airflow without pressure loss to distant sections.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shuwaidi

  1. 1

Get a map of duct distribution routes

Request a map from the centre showing main duct routes, secondary branches and all air outlets.

  2. 2

    Schedule heavy maintenance in advance

Arrange with management a maintenance window away from peak hours, with advance notice to shop tenants about any expected downtime.

  3. 3

    Confirm roof and passage access

Ensure the service team can safely reach the roof for outdoor units and access any narrow internal passages.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

North-facing sun is intense on shop fronts, how does the system cope?

The system is sized with extra capacity to account for solar gain through north-facing windows and doors. Regular inspection of outdoor coils and filters ensures high efficiency even at peak heat.

Dust builds up quickly, how often should we clean the filters?

In Al Shuwaidi, we recommend cleaning filters every two to three weeks in summer and monthly otherwise. Faster cleaning maintains performance and prevents system strain.

Can outdoor unit maintenance happen only on public holidays?

Yes, we coordinate with the centre management to schedule heavy maintenance on public holidays or after shop hours. Routine checks and cleaning can happen in the evening without affecting visitors.

Outdoor units are exposed to sun and dust, do they need extra protection?

Partial shading or a dust screen around the outdoor units extends their life and boosts efficiency. We recommend checking the external filter and coils monthly through summer.
