When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Harat Al Yemen is part of historic downtown Jeddah, containing shops and stores in tightly packed old buildings with very narrow streets and limited ceiling heights. Narrow doorways and crowded passages mean outdoor unit placement has few options and may require creative design. Heat loads run high due to density and direct sun on aged roofing, and tight access means the team may carry equipment by hand through narrow corridors. Coordination with shop owners and neighbours is essential because buildings sit so close together.

Harat Al Yemen lies in historic downtown Jeddah, a district of tightly packed, densely built old blocks with very narrow streets.

Shops in Harat Al Yemen typically use small split units or window ACs because space is very limited and outdoor units mount on narrow facades.

The AC setup in Harat Al Yemen

  1. 1

    Compact split per shop

Shops in Harat Al Yemen typically use one compact split unit due to space limits and architectural constraints.

  2. 2

    Window units where possible

Some older shops still use window units in narrow windows, unable to convert to split systems.

  3. 3

Creative mounting on facades and balconies

Outdoor units are mounted creatively on narrow facades, small balconies or sometimes inside shops when necessary.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Harat Al Yemen

  1. 1

Tell us the nearest parking spot

Harat Al Yemen's streets are very tight and crowded; point out the nearest safe parking for the service van.

  2. 2

Coordinate with shop owner and neighbours

Inform the shop owner and neighbours about the visit in advance because access requires passing through shared corridors and some disruption may occur.

  3. 3

Check the facade or balcony is safe

Confirm the facade or balcony for the outdoor unit is structurally sound and can bear the weight before the appointment.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

How do you mount outdoor units on such closely packed old buildings?

Options are limited, so we mount on narrow facades, small balconies or occasionally inside the shop if space allows. We inspect the site in person to find the best solution.

The streets and passages are extremely tight, how do you get equipment in?

Our team carries tools and parts by hand through the narrow passages, often leaving the van at the nearest parking point and walking to the site.

Does the density and heat of old downtown affect unit sizing?

Yes, density and direct sun exposure raise the heat load, so we may select a slightly larger unit than expected. Your exact location needs a site visit to assess.

Neighbours are very close, are there noise and ventilation issues?

Close neighbours mean we select low-noise units and ensure hot air discharge does not aim at adjacent windows.
