When you need a retail HVAC specialist
- 1
A new mall or shopping centre
A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.
- 2
An existing shop with uneven cooling
The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.
- 3
Condensate dripping on shelves or display
A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.
Who it's for
Opening a new shop inside a mall
We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

We review the existing system and set a preventive and corrective maintenance contract scheduled outside trading hours so tenants are not affected.

How we work
How we work
- 1
Site survey and loads
We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.
- 2
Design and materials
We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.
- 3
Installation coordinated on site
We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.
- 4
Start-up and maintenance contract
We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.
Designed for the space or just fitted?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |

| Condensate | Dedicated line away from stock | Risk of drips on shelves |
| Maintenance | Scheduled outside shop hours | Surprise outage during trade |
| Copper purity | Mueller copper, 99% pure, no welds | Unspecified pipe source |

What sets this district apart
Petromin is a modern retail zone with varied shops and central ducted systems, often with outdoor units on roofs or in shared spaces, so distribution requires precise calculation and regular checks to prevent water leakage in corridors and storage areas. Most shops here operate long hours with doors open to a hot street, so the system must restore cool air quickly whilst avoiding water or humidity issues on the sales floor.
Petromin, in south Jeddah, is a modern retail district with shops and small malls sharing rooftops for outdoor units.
Most shops and small malls here run unified central systems per floor or section, with multiple outdoor units on the roof.
The AC setup in Petromin
- 1
Central ducted system for the retail floor
Petromin shops typically use a central system covering the entire floor from one or more outdoor units on the shared roof.
- 2
Regular drain and mould checks
Humidity from the open door increases drain blockage and mould risk, so maintenance visits focus on cleaning and inspecting the drain lines.
- 3
Heat-load balancing during peak hours
During peak hours and busy times, the system may need fine tuning to achieve comfort without energy waste or condensation spillage.

FAQ
Questions about Mall & retail HVAC
How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?
An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.
Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?
Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.
Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?
A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.
How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?
Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.
Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?
The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.
My shop opens on a hot street; will the AC keep up?
Yes, but we size the system based on your opening hours, floor area and heat from lighting, and we visit the shop to assess the door and street exposure before we design it.
The roof is shared between shops; does that complicate servicing?
We coordinate with the mall management or building owner before any service or inspection of the roof units, and schedule at times that do not interrupt shopping.
Water leaks from the ducts into my storage below; how do you fix this?
We inspect the drain route, slope and connections, clean the drain line and may reroute the piping to ensure condensation flows away from your storage.
Heat and humidity from the open door affect my stock; does the system protect it?
We choose high-efficiency cooling and dehumidifying units, monitor humidity levels during regular checks, and may recommend additional air filtration or humidity control if needed.
