Split AC installation in Al Qaws

In Al Qaws, east Jeddah, installing split AC in villas and residential blocks near parks and open areas requires care in placing the outdoor unit. Alrabih's team considers natural airflow and protection from dust and high winds during installation.

When you need a proper installer

  1. 1

A new unit for a room or flat

You have bought the unit, or are about to, and want it fitted once, not to find a refrigerant leak or water on the floor a few weeks later. Getting it right first time saves you all of that.

  2. 2

Not sure where the outdoor unit goes

In Jeddah flats the choice is usually the roof, the balcony or the facade. We pick a spot where the condenser gets enough air, a technician can reach it for servicing, and neither noise nor drain water bothers the neighbours.

  3. 3

A past install that went wrong

Weak cooling since day one, water running down the wall, a loud indoor unit. These are usually installation mistakes, not faults in the unit, and our installation is built step by step to avoid them.

Who it's for

  • Moving into a new flat that needs AC

We plan every unit position and copper route in one go, so the whole flat ends up neat and consistent.

    Ask on WhatsApp
  • Fitting AC in a shop or office

We place the units so cool air reaches the entrance and the work area, and arrange outdoor units and drains to suit the shopfront and the building's rules.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the room, where the outdoor unit might go and your district, and we tell you what the job needs before the visit.

  2. 2

    Agree positions and route

On site, the technician agrees the unit positions and the copper and drain route with you before drilling any wall.

  3. 3

    Fit and vacuum

We mount both units, run and insulate the copper, then vacuum the line with a pump and check the joints before releasing the refrigerant held in the outdoor unit.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, measure the air coming out, check the drain flows, then leave the room clean and show you the remote and how to clean the filter.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Qaws is a growing district with spacious planning near open areas and public gardens, allowing reasonable spacing between villas and blocks. The environment here experiences more natural wind than congested areas, and dust may be higher during windy seasons. Outdoor unit placement needs careful selection not just to avoid disturbing neighbours but also to shield the unit from high winds and dust. Copper runs are relatively straightforward but need strong insulation to withstand the weather.

Al Qaws is in the east, an area of villas and blocks with open spaces near public gardens.

Outdoor units are usually on roofs or wind-protected outer walls, with medium copper distances matching the home's design.

The AC setup in Al Qaws

  1. 1

    Wind-protected split on roof

Standard option, with the outdoor unit mounted on a wind-protected roof section on a firm base with strong anchoring.

  2. 2

Split shielded by protective walls on outer wall

In some cases, the outdoor unit is mounted on an outer wall surrounded by protective brick or metal barriers to reduce wind impact.

  3. 3

Copper tubing heavily insulated against weather

Copper is wrapped in thick insulation and a UV-resistant outer sleeve to protect against wind and dust exposure.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Qaws

  1. 1

Confirm roof safety and base integrity

Ensure the roof can support the outdoor unit's weight and there is a suitable base to anchor it securely against winds.

  2. 2

    Identify prevailing wind direction

Tell us about strong wind patterns in your area so we can choose better-protected placement.

  3. 3

    Ensure unobstructed roof access

Check that stairs and passages to the roof are clear and safe, with no obstructions that could slow installation.

FAQ

Questions about Split AC installation

Will you install a unit I bought elsewhere?

Yes, we install units you have bought yourself. Before the visit we ask the model, its capacity and where both units will go, so we know the copper length. If you have not bought one yet, we are an authorised distributor for Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold and can help you choose.

Why does the line need vacuuming before start-up?

New pipes hold air and moisture, and Jeddah's humid air adds more. Mixed with refrigerant, they weaken cooling and strain the compressor over time. We pull them out with a vacuum pump, watch that the reading holds so we know the line is tight, and only then release the refrigerant.

Can the outdoor unit be far from the room?

Yes, within the manufacturer's limits for line length and height difference. We use Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, so there are fewer joints that could leak, and the survey shows whether a long run needs extra refrigerant.

Can you hide the copper and cables in the wall?

It depends on the house. In a new build or during finishing works, the copper can run inside the wall before plastering. In a lived-in home we use neat plastic trunking in the wall colour. We show you the better option for your home at the survey, before any work starts.

What if the outside wall cannot carry the unit?

We check the wall before fixing anything, because some facades are clad in stone or panels that cannot take the weight. Then we set the unit on a floor stand on the roof or balcony, or on a bracket anchored to the concrete itself, not the cladding, so it does not shake loose.

Winds are high some seasons; how do you protect the outdoor unit?

We select a wind-protected spot, usually on the rear section of roof or shielded by walls. We secure it firmly to a stable base and account for Al Qaws's prevailing wind direction.

Proximity to gardens and open spaces: does dust increase on the AC?

Yes, open spaces and gardens can increase natural dust. We place the outdoor unit where airflow is good without dust accumulation, and we recommend regular cleaning of the filter and outdoor coil.

Heat is high and humidity varies here; does this affect split unit selection?

Yes, we choose units with adequate cooling capacity for high heat and variable humidity. Protected placement helps the unit run more efficiently.

Long copper runs and weather exposure: do they need special insulation?

We use thicker-walled insulated copper tubing with a robust outer sleeve to protect against moisture, dust and UV. This extends copper life and maintains cooling performance.
