Fitted right first time
Split AC installation in Harat Al Yemen
In Harat Al Yemen, downtown Jeddah's old quarter, split installation in tightly clustered old and new buildings needs skill navigating narrow gaps and shared roofs. Alrabih's team chooses unit positions carefully and vacuums the line before start-up to ensure quiet, uninterrupted cooling.
- Mueller copper
- Full vacuum
- Proper drain

When you need a proper installer
- 1
A new unit for a room or flat
You have bought the unit, or are about to, and want it fitted once, not to find a refrigerant leak or water on the floor a few weeks later. Getting it right first time saves you all of that.
- 2
Not sure where the outdoor unit goes
In Jeddah flats the choice is usually the roof, the balcony or the facade. We pick a spot where the condenser gets enough air, a technician can reach it for servicing, and neither noise nor drain water bothers the neighbours.
- 3
A past install that went wrong
Weak cooling since day one, water running down the wall, a loud indoor unit. These are usually installation mistakes, not faults in the unit, and our installation is built step by step to avoid them.
Who it's for
Moving into a new flat that needs AC
We plan every unit position and copper route in one go, so the whole flat ends up neat and consistent.
Ask on WhatsAppFitting AC in a shop or office
We place the units so cool air reaches the entrance and the work area, and arrange outdoor units and drains to suit the shopfront and the building's rules.

How we work
How we work
- 1
Send a photo
WhatsApp us a photo of the room, where the outdoor unit might go and your district, and we tell you what the job needs before the visit.
- 2
Agree positions and route
On site, the technician agrees the unit positions and the copper and drain route with you before drilling any wall.
- 3
Fit and vacuum
We mount both units, run and insulate the copper, then vacuum the line with a pump and check the joints before releasing the refrigerant held in the outdoor unit.
- 4
Start-up and handover
We run the unit, measure the air coming out, check the drain flows, then leave the room clean and show you the remote and how to clean the filter.
A careful install or a rushed one?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| Vacuum | Pumped before start-up | Often skipped |
| Copper | Mueller, fully insulated | Patchy insulation |
| Drain | Falls, so no drips | Water down the wall |
| Outdoor unit spot | Airy and easy to reach | Wherever it fits |
| Wall opening | Sealed tight | Dust gets through |

What sets this district apart
Harat Al Yemen is a dense historic quarter mixing very old houses and buildings with some closely packed modern apartment blocks. Streets are very narrow and inter-building gaps are tight, so mounting outdoor units on facades is usually the only option. Roofs are shared among many buildings, so positioning needs coordination with residents and owners. High humidity in the old town due to proximity to the sea and narrow streets increase water leakage and mould, so drainage demands special care. Summer heat is trapped between closely packed buildings, raising the load on small individual split units.
Harat Al Yemen lies in historic downtown Jeddah, marked by very old tightly packed buildings with narrow streets and shared roofs.
Most buildings in Harat Al Yemen hold small separate split units, and outdoor units are always mounted on narrow facades because there are no private roofs or yards.
The AC setup in Harat Al Yemen
- 1
Small separate split per home or flat
Old buildings in the quarter cannot take central runs, so each home relies on its own small unit mounted on the facade.
- 2
Outdoor unit on the narrow facade wall
Outdoor units are fitted on narrow facade walls with sturdy brackets, in spots that do not block passage or windows.
- 3
Drain protected from high moisture and mould
Drain lines need extra care in the old town because high humidity causes algae and mould to accumulate fast.
Before the visit
Before our visit in Harat Al Yemen
- 1
Coordinate with neighbours on the unit location
Tell neighbours in advance about the outdoor-unit installation plan and get their approval, ensuring it will not block their windows or passages.
- 2
Tell us the nearest parking point for the team
Harat Al Yemen's streets are very tight, so point out the nearest safe parking before the visit to help the team and equipment arrive.
- 3
Check the wall and facade condition for the unit
Inspect the outer wall where the unit will go and ensure it is strong enough and free of deep cracks that might compromise safe mounting.

FAQ
Questions about Split AC installation
Will you install a unit I bought elsewhere?
Yes, we install units you have bought yourself. Before the visit we ask the model, its capacity and where both units will go, so we know the copper length. If you have not bought one yet, we are an authorised distributor for Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold and can help you choose.
Why does the line need vacuuming before start-up?
New pipes hold air and moisture, and Jeddah's humid air adds more. Mixed with refrigerant, they weaken cooling and strain the compressor over time. We pull them out with a vacuum pump, watch that the reading holds so we know the line is tight, and only then release the refrigerant.
Can the outdoor unit be far from the room?
Yes, within the manufacturer's limits for line length and height difference. We use Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, so there are fewer joints that could leak, and the survey shows whether a long run needs extra refrigerant.
Can you hide the copper and cables in the wall?
It depends on the house. In a new build or during finishing works, the copper can run inside the wall before plastering. In a lived-in home we use neat plastic trunking in the wall colour. We show you the better option for your home at the survey, before any work starts.
What if the outside wall cannot carry the unit?
We check the wall before fixing anything, because some facades are clad in stone or panels that cannot take the weight. Then we set the unit on a floor stand on the roof or balcony, or on a bracket anchored to the concrete itself, not the cladding, so it does not shake loose.
The old building has old split units, is upgrading a good idea?
Yes, old units consume more power and cool less. We recommend upgrading to modern high-efficiency models, provided the facade has space.
The facades are very narrow, how do you mount the outdoor units?
We use sturdy metal brackets and clean the wall well before mounting. We choose the spot that does not block passage or adjacent windows.
Moisture and mould are common in the old quarter, does that affect the split?
Yes, high humidity increases mould buildup in the drain pan and evaporator. We fit high-mould-resistance units and clean the drain monthly.
Roofs are shared among homes, can we use the roof for the unit?
Usually no, because shared roofs need collective approval from all residents, which is rarely forthcoming. The best option is mounting on the outer facade with neighbours' agreement.
