Window AC installation in Al Hafnah

In Al Hafnah, east Jeddah, a modern residential district with tall apartment blocks and relatively large flats. Window ACs are common as a supplementary choice alongside central air. Installation demands precision in frame and sealing because the buildings are new and windows have standard aluminium sections.

When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Hafnah is a modern residential district built in recent years with tall well-spaced apartment blocks and relatively large flats with contemporary standard windows. Many flats have central air but residents choose to add a window unit in the bedroom or living room for better temperature control. The modern windows have precision-cut aluminium sections carefully engineered, so installation demands good understanding of the frame design and care not to damage the double glazing. Drainage is relatively straightforward because the buildings are new and connected to modern drainage systems.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My flat has central AC, should I add a window unit in one room?

Yes, many residents prefer an extra window unit in the bedroom or living room for individual control and power savings when central AC is off.

The window connects to the building's drainage system, does that affect installation?

No, modern buildings have good drainage systems, so we tie the unit's drain into the existing system easily.

The window is double-glazed, can it handle a window unit's weight?

Double glazing sits in a strong aluminium frame, and the unit's weight rests on the frame not the glass, but we take extreme care during mounting to avoid damaging it.

Does a window unit ruin the building's exterior appearance?

Al Hafnah is a modern neighbourhood, and outdoor units are visible from the street, but we mount them level and secure so they do not detract from the facade's appearance.
