When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Nakhil is a relatively modern residential district east of Jeddah with villas and housing units spread across spacious plots, featuring green space and open urban planning. Modern buildings here typically have strong structural systems and quality window frames of aluminium or double-glazing. Whilst many homes may have central AC, some ancillary rooms or annexes may have window units installed, which is easier here because spaces are larger and natural ventilation is better.

Al Nakhil is a modern residential district east of Jeddah with spacious planning, villas and blocks spread across large plots with green spaces.

Windows in Al Nakhil are usually high-quality with strong aluminium frames, and many modern villas and flats need little reinforcement during installation.

The AC setup in Al Nakhil

  1. 1

Window units for extra rooms and annexes

Annexes and extra rooms in Al Nakhil's modern villas are not always connected to the central system, so a window unit provides an independent, easy-to-install solution.

  2. 2

Units in home offices and studies

Home offices and studies in Al Nakhil often need separate cooling, and a window unit provides comfort during working hours.

  3. 3

Installation in guest rooms and living areas

Guest rooms in modern Al Nakhil villas may have additional window units for independent temperature control.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Nakhil

  1. 1

Specify the room and its use

Tell us the room's purpose (bedroom, office, annex) and how many hours daily it is used, since that affects the right unit size.

  2. 2

Confirm access to the yard or outdoor area

Check that the yard is safe and accessible, where the outdoor unit will sit, and tell us about any obstacles or plants in the area.

  3. 3

Request frame assessment before the visit

If the window is in an older annex, ask us to inspect the frame and base before the appointment to assess any reinforcement needs.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Most homes in Al Nakhil have central AC, when would we choose a window unit?

A window unit is useful for extra rooms, annexes, or separate offices not connected to the central system, or as a quick option if you need to cool a specific room soon.

Al Nakhil villas are spacious with large windows, is installation easier here?

Yes, spacious interiors, large windows and strong frames make installation simpler and faster, but we mind where the outdoor unit goes to avoid obstacles in the garden.

My house annex or office has older construction, can we fit a unit there?

We inspect the frame and structure first, and if the base or glazing is weak we may recommend reinforcement before installation, since an annex may need extra support.

Does placing the outdoor unit in the yard affect the garden?

We choose a safe spot away from plants and pathways, and the outdoor unit can be relocated after installation if you redesign the garden, provided we safely reconnect the pipes.
