When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Nuzlah Al Sharqiyah lies in south Jeddah near the coast, with contemporary residential blocks fairly close together and moderate street widths. High humidity and salt are the main challenges here due to coastal proximity and moist air stagnating around the buildings. Window units corrode and degrade faster, and loose sealing allows damp salty air straight into the room.

Al Nuzlah Al Sharqiyah is in coastal south Jeddah, featuring modern residential blocks in a humid and salty environment.

Most windows here face high humidity and salt, units need regular inspection to prevent corrosion, and condensate drainage must be safe and swift to avoid moisture buildup.

The AC setup in Al Nuzlah Al Sharqiyah

  1. 1

    Windows on sturdy modern walls

Most Al Nuzlah blocks have sturdy modern outer walls that easily bear window unit weight.

  2. 2

    Units with salt-resistant coating

We select units with special salt-resistant and rust-protective coating, because the coastal humid environment speeds corrosion.

  3. 3

    Fast and safe condensate drainage

Correct unit tilt and swift condensate drainage are essential here to prevent water and moisture pooling around the frame and interior walls.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Nuzlah Al Sharqiyah

  1. 1

Choose the window least exposed to direct winds

If you have a choice, select a window with some shelter from direct winds and spray, even if it is not the easiest to access.

  2. 2

Ensure easy access for regular cleaning

Choose a location easily accessible from inside and out for periodic cleaning and inspection, because salt and humidity require regular upkeep.

  3. 3

    Confirm safe water drainage below

Check that the area below the window is safe for condensate drainage, with no electrical outlets or sensitive items that could be damaged by dripping water.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Humidity and salt are very high here, does this affect which unit we should choose?

Yes, we recommend units with salt-resistant coatings and stainless frames. Swift condensate drainage and tight sealing reduce entry of humid salty air, extending the unit's life.

Can we install a window unit on a window that faces the sea directly?

Yes, but we position the unit to shield it as much as possible from direct winds, and use high-quality salt-resistant weatherstripping and silicone. We inspect regularly to prevent salt buildup and corrosion.

Humidity causes mould in other AC types, is a window unit safe from this?

A window unit drains condensate swiftly outdoors if tilted correctly, reducing mould risk. But very high humidity means periodic cleaning is essential to prevent any buildup.

How often should we clean a window unit here in Al Nuzlah?

Due to high salt and humidity, we recommend cleaning every month or two at minimum. This reduces salt and mould accumulation and keeps the unit efficient and drainage safe.
