Window AC installation in Al Sabeel

In Al Sabeel in central old Jeddah, window AC installation is common in residential flats and small shops because the buildings' layout does not allow central ducting. Proper installation means checking the frame, tight sealing against heat and salt, and safe condensate drainage.

When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

  • Managing a staff housing building that needs practical cooling

We survey each room and its existing openings, then install units in level frames with the correct outward tilt in every room as the survey findings direct.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Sabeel mixes residential flats, small shops and offices in medium-height buildings, many dating from the 1950s and 1960s. Windows here are less deep than in Al Balad, but frames are often rusty or damaged from coastal humidity and age. Window AC installation requires careful frame inspection and may need parts replacement, plus strong sealing around the opening because the hot street air and surrounding humidity find every small gap.

Al Sabeel is in central old Jeddah, a mixed district of flats, shops and offices in mid-rise stone and concrete buildings from the previous century.

Most windows in Al Sabeel are 60 to 80 centimetres wide and around 120 centimetres high, suitable for medium-sized window units.

The AC setup in Al Sabeel

  1. 1

Window unit in a mid-rise stone or concrete frame

Buildings here mix stone and concrete, frames are mid-strength but often need rust cleaning and reinforcement before secure fixing.

  2. 2

    Moisture and salt-resistant sealing

Standard sealant is not enough in Al Sabeel, so we use specialist moisture and salt-resistant materials around the entire frame.

  3. 3

    External drain channels angled outward

Since windows sometimes overlook shops below, we fit small channels angled to direct condensate away from neighbouring facades.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Sabeel

  1. 1

Clean the frame of dust and surface rust

Surface cleaning of the frame helps our team assess real damage and plan necessary reinforcement before the visit.

  2. 2

Confirm whether there is a shop or office below the window

If there is a commercial facade below, tell us beforehand so we plan a dedicated drain system to protect the property below.

  3. 3

Keep the street area clear below the window on installation day

Ask people not to stand directly under the window during the work for safety and security reasons.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My window frame has rust and cracks, can you install an AC unit on it?

It depends on how bad the damage is. We inspect the frame on the first visit and may need to clean off rust and reinforce it before installation, or replace weak sections.

The street below my window is very busy, how do you install safely?

We use secure fixing gear and wear safety harnesses when working on the facade. We also ask for a small clear space below the window to avoid any risk to pedestrians.

Humidity here is very high, do condensates cause wall problems?

Yes, high humidity and nearness to the sea increase condensate buildup. We fit tight, properly angled external drainage and use moisture-resistant sealant to protect both interior and exterior walls.

The shop owner below says water drips on his facade, how do you fix this?

We fit external drain channels or gutters angled away from the facade below, or seal any gaps around the frame that cause water to leak out.
