When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Shurooq is a relatively modern district with comfortably scaled residential blocks and contemporary villas, featuring modern windows with strong metal frames. Wide streets allow easy access and manoeuvring, but the east-facing location means direct morning sun and dust exposure. Precise levelling of each unit and tight sealing around the frame are essential to prevent hot air leakage and keep the facade looking clean.

Al Shurooq is in east Jeddah, a modern district with comfortable blocks and contemporary villas on wide streets exposed to eastern sun and dust.

Most Al Shurooq windows are modern with very strong frames, suitable for medium and larger window units without additional reinforcement.

The AC setup in Al Shurooq

  1. 1

Medium and large window units for spacious flats

Al Shurooq has spacious flats and contemporary villas requiring medium to large units to cool a full room or living area.

  2. 2

Modern windows with robust metal frames

Modern metal frames in Al Shurooq can bear heavier loads, allowing installation of larger units without structural concerns.

  3. 3

Secure drainage to protect modern facades

Al Shurooq's modern building facades are moisture-sensitive, so we will install the unit at the correct angle and create a clean drain path away from the wall.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shurooq

  1. 1

Choose a less sun-exposed window if you can

Avoid east-facing windows if you have a choice, as they put extra strain on the unit and frame.

  2. 2

Ensure safe and easy access to the window

Confirm the outer window is safely accessible from outside, with no obstacles or hanging wires in front of it.

  3. 3

Prepare a power outlet or extension plan

Confirm there is an outlet near the window, or let us know in advance if you need a safe electrical extension run.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My building is brand new, will fitting the unit damage the facade?

No, if we install it correctly. We will take care not to damage the facade during fitting and sealing, and ensure water drains cleanly and away from the wall.

Morning sun floods my window every day, where should the unit go?

An east-facing window heats fast. If possible, choose a less sun-exposed window, or fit the unit here but keep blinds closed in the morning to reduce incoming heat.

Our street is very wide, does that make installation easier?

Yes, wide streets allow our team to park safely and access equipment easily, making the visit and installation straightforward.

How long does a metal frame last before I need to replace the unit?

Modern metal frames in Al Shurooq last long with careful upkeep. The unit itself may need periodic service, but the frame can last years without replacement if protected from rust and corrosion.
