When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Tilal, in the east, features residential buildings at different heights and uneven, sloped terrain, making every window AC installation unique. Windows here vary in size, and some sit in angled walls or on different levels because of the neighbourhood's topography. The intense eastern heat at midday puts pressure on the units, and direct sun exposure means proper sealing around the unit is critical for efficiency. Condensate drainage becomes more complex on elevated and sloped surfaces.

Al Tilal lies in east Jeddah on elevated, uneven terrain and contains residential blocks at varying heights with windows of different sizes.

Windows in Al Tilal vary in size and level because of the terrain, requiring precise measurement and individual adjustments for each installation.

The AC setup in Al Tilal

  1. 1

Window units sized individually for each frame

Windows in Al Tilal vary widely, so each unit is selected and fitted to match the actual frame size and the level it sits at.

  2. 2

    Base reinforcement on sloped walls

Sloped walls in Al Tilal may need extra reinforcement before installation to ensure the unit sits stable and safe over time.

  3. 3

    Condensate drainage on elevated terrain

Because of the elevated terrain, drainage requires studying the natural slope to avoid water pooling or seeping into the building.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Tilal

  1. 1

Describe your window's sun and wind exposure

Tell us if the window faces east, north or south, and whether it gets strong winds, as this affects how much sealing we need.

  2. 2

Confirm safe access to the site

If the window is high or on difficult terrain, tell us in advance so we bring proper equipment and trained staff.

  3. 3

Check your frame and sill stability

On sloped terrain, check if the frame is actually level or if there are cracks around it, and tell us about any problems.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My window is in a sloped wall, can you safely fit an AC unit there?

Yes, but we measure the wall and frame precisely and reinforce the base if needed, ensuring the outward tilt for drainage is correct even on sloped walls.

Our buildings are on uneven terrain, how do you safely reach high windows?

We assess safe access to the site before the visit and use appropriate equipment if the window is high, prioritising the team's safety and your property.

The sun hits my window from the east all day, does that reduce the unit's efficiency?

Direct sun exposure increases the unit's cooling load, but strong sealing around the frame and unit reduces extra heat entry and improves efficiency.

Condensate drains into the garden below my window, is that a problem?

No problem, but we ensure the water flows away from the building's foundation and walls, and we need to know the slope direction before installation.
