When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Thuwal is a relatively remote district in far northern Jeddah, mixing villas with residential buildings, and windows are less standardised here than in Al Murooj or Al Furqan. The far northern desert location means strong winds and fine dust, and older buildings may need closer inspection of window frame strength. Precise installation with heavy sealing and correct outward tilt remains essential for safe operation and proper drainage.

Thuwal lies in far northern Jeddah, a remote residential area mixing villas and blocks with high desert wind exposure.

Thuwal's windows vary in size and strength, some in older buildings, and outdoor units face direct north and north-west winds.

The AC setup in Thuwal

  1. 1

    Window unit in variable-strength frames

Thuwal's windows vary in strength, so we size the unit and brackets to match each frame's capacity.

  2. 2

Enhanced sealing for desert dust protection

The remote desert setting requires heavier sealing around gaps to stop fine dust infiltration.

  3. 3

    Drainage system sealed against backflow

Drainage outlet design prevents dust or water from backing in, especially under strong winds.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Thuwal

  1. 1

Send photos of the window and frame from inside and out

Thuwal is remote, so clear photos of the window and frame help us prepare and plan before the visit.

  2. 2

Tell us the frame's approximate age and condition

If you know the building's age or frame condition (new, moderate, old), let us know so we can assess if extra reinforcement is needed.

  3. 3

Ensure access to the window from outside is clear

Check that the team can safely reach the window from outside, whether via a balcony or ladder, to install the outdoor part.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My building is rather old, will the window frame safely hold a window unit?

We carefully inspect the frame before any installation, checking its strength and any cracks or damage. If the frame is weak, we suggest reinforcement or alternative options.

Thuwal is quite remote, do you service distant areas?

Yes, we cover all of Thuwal as part of our wider Jeddah service. We coordinate visits in advance to ensure the team and materials are ready.

The desert winds here are very strong, is it safe to install the unit?

Strong winds are real in Thuwal. We use heavy-duty brackets and seal tight, but we inspect the location first to assess wind exposure and adjust installation accordingly.

Desert dust covers everything here, will the sealing be enough?

Constant dust is a real challenge. We seal gaps with heavy, durable insulation and recommend regular AC cleaning, as dust will build up faster here than in closer districts.
