When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Huda is a relatively modern residential district in the south with small, medium and apartment blocks, located slightly inland from the coast but in an extremely hot zone prone to repeated sandstorms. Many residents chose window units for ease of installation and low cost. But the intense heat and heavy dust mean these units operate under very high daily pressure, with the coil and condenser clogging and heating fast. Common faults include early cooling loss, noise and water drips from blocked drains.

Al Huda is in inland south Jeddah, a modern residential district of small and medium flats exposed to intense heat and sandstorms.

Window units here need at least monthly maintenance due to heavy dust and high heat, with the most common faults being weak cooling, drips and noise from an overstrained motor.

The AC setup in Al Huda

  1. 1

Single window unit per residential flat

Most flats in Al Huda rely on one window unit that cools the front room and adjacent hallways.

  2. 2

Direct installation in the window opening

These flats have no central ducts, so installation is direct in the window frame from inside and out.

  3. 3

Units exposed to both heavy dust and intense heat

The coil and condenser face double pressure from heavy dust and heat exceeding 45°C, which speeds up faults.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Huda

  1. 1

Disconnect power to the unit before we visit

For safety, ensure the power to the unit is switched off before we arrive, and leave the connection safe.

  2. 2

Clear dust from the window area

Wipe dust from the window frame and surrounding area inside and out, since heavy dust blocks visibility and working space.

  3. 3

Verify safe access to the outdoor part

If the flat is on a high floor, make sure there is a safe and easy way to reach the outdoor unit.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit has completely stopped cooling, does it need new parts?

Not necessarily. The coil may be dust-blocked, the capacitor weak or refrigerant low. We inspect it first and identify the cause before buying any parts.

Dust clogs the coil very fast, how often should I request cleaning?

During sandstorm season, we recommend deep cleaning every 4 to 6 weeks. In lighter dust periods, every two to three months. This maintains performance and extends unit life.

Temperatures here exceed 45°C in summer, can the window unit handle it?

The motor and condenser operate under severe strain when heat exceeds 45°C. This accelerates wear and reduces efficiency. Regular maintenance is essential to withstand these conditions.

My unit drips water from the bottom edge, is the drain blocked?

The drain may be dust-clogged or mineral-blocked, or the unit tilted wrongly. We inspect it, clean the drain and correct any tilt if we find it.
