Dedicated duct workshop

Duct fabrication in Al Sharafiyah

In Al Sharafiyah, central Jeddah's newer residential and hotel buildings need properly fabricated duct runs for their HVAC systems. Alrabih fabricates duct to precise dimensions in the workshop so it arrives ready to hang with zero air leakage.

Who needs workshop-fabricated duct?

  1. 1

    A contractor with project-specific sizes

Your project has non-standard sizes or volumes too large for site cutting. We fabricate rectangular and round sections from your drawings at exact dimensions, labelled and ready to hang when they reach the site.

  2. 2

Fittings too awkward to cut on site

Elbows, transitions, offsets and takeoffs come out distorted when cut by hand on site, leaking air and creating noise in the line. We make them in the workshop at the right dimensions with tight seams.

  3. 3

Extending or renovating an existing duct network

You need new branches, a damaged section replaced or a fitting that matches an old duct size. We measure the existing network on site and fabricate the pieces to match what is already there.

Who it's for

  • Building a facility that needs non-standard duct sizes

We read your project drawings and fabricate all sections and fittings at exact dimensions from G90 or aluminium sheet, labelled and ready to hang the moment they reach your site.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Take measurements

A technician visits the site or you send us the drawings; we list every duct section needed, its size and the correct sheet thickness for that section.

  2. 2

    Fabricate sections and fittings

We cut, form and lock the sheet in the workshop, including all elbows, transitions, offsets and takeoffs, and each section comes out at its exact dimension.

  3. 3

    Label and prepare for delivery

We number every section and fitting against the assembly plan so the installation crew knows exactly where each piece goes, with no guessing on site.

  4. 4

    Deliver to site

We deliver the duct to your Jeddah site protected and ready to hang. If you need an installation crew, we can arrange that as a separate step.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Sharafiyah is a modern growth area with contemporary residential buildings and hotel and serviced-apartment towers, most relying on centralised HVAC systems instead of split units. These systems need complex duct networks running through ceilings and walls with multiple transitions and bends, and site-cut duct cannot hold precise dimensions and causes significant air leakage. Workshop fabrication from drawings or site measurements ensures full design compliance and faster installation.

Al Sharafiyah lies in central Jeddah, a modern development zone of high-rise residential buildings and hotel projects.

Central HVAC systems here rely on complex duct networks with multiple bends and transitions to distribute air across several storeys.

The AC setup in Al Sharafiyah

  1. 1

    Galvanised central duct networks

Central HVAC systems in Al Sharafiyah use rectangular galvanised duct with complex transitions and bends to distribute air across multiple storeys.

  2. 2

    Distribution outlets in suspended ceilings

Duct runs through suspended ceilings with distribution outlets spread across different zones, requiring precision in measurement and fabrication.

  3. 3

    Sealed joints with zero leakage

Every duct joint fabricated in the workshop comes ready for direct, airtight connection with no additional site work needed.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Sharafiyah

  1. 1

    Obtain complete system drawings

Provide us with the system's engineering drawings or comprehensive on-site measurements before fabrication starts to ensure accuracy.

  2. 2

    Confirm the main unit location

Specify exactly where the central unit or chiller will be placed, as the main duct network begins from there.

  3. 3

    Ensure delivery and hoisting access

Confirm the site allows hoisting of large duct sections or that building passages are wide enough to pass them through before installation.

FAQ

Questions about Duct fabrication

Can you fabricate from drawings without visiting the site?

Yes, when the drawings are clear and carry the actual as-built dimensions. If a dimension is uncertain or a field change has been made, we prefer a site visit to avoid a fabricated piece that does not fit. We discuss the better approach with you before starting work.

What is the difference between galvanized and aluminium sheet for duct?

G90 galvanized sheet is the standard choice for interior duct: strong and suited to a range of pressures. Aluminium is lighter and handles Jeddah's coastal humidity and salt air better, making it right for some exposed applications or where structural load is a limiting factor. The correct choice depends on the site.

Can you make elbows and transitions to match an existing duct network?

Yes. We measure the existing network on site to match sizes precisely, whether you need a new branch added, a damaged fitting replaced or an extension tied into the original ductwork. The right approach is confirmed after the site visit.

How do you choose sheet thickness for each section?

Thickness follows section size: a large duct needs heavier sheet to hold its shape under pressure, a small one can use lighter material. We apply the SMACNA requirements to each section in the project individually, not a single thickness across the whole job.

Does Jeddah's humidity and salt air affect which sheet material to use?

Yes, particularly for sections exposed to outdoor air or installed near fresh-air intakes. G90 galvanized sheet performs well inside the building, but aluminium is the better choice where duct is in continuous contact with Jeddah's humid, salt-laden air. The site survey determines the right material for each section.

How is workshop-fabricated duct different from site-cut duct?

Workshop duct is measured precisely from drawings and fabricated to exact dimensions and true angles, so it joins with no gaps and zero air loss. Site-cut duct typically results in dimension variations and air leakage that undermines system efficiency.

How do you handle complex ducting in the new hotel projects?

We work from the HVAC system's engineering drawings and fabricate every duct section, transition and bend in the workshop before installation, reducing on-site time and ensuring exact design compliance.

Does Jeddah's humidity affect metal duct materials?

We use G90 galvanised or aluminium duct to resist humidity and salt in the coastal air, with galvanised steel holding strength particularly well in humid coastal conditions.

How long does fabricating a complete duct network for a residential building take?

Time depends on the building size and network complexity, but workshop fabrication is far faster than site-cutting and installation. Send the system drawings on WhatsApp and we will give you an expected delivery date.
