Who needs workshop-fabricated duct?

  1. 1

    A contractor with project-specific sizes

Your project has non-standard sizes or volumes too large for site cutting. We fabricate rectangular and round sections from your drawings at exact dimensions, labelled and ready to hang when they reach the site.

  2. 2

Fittings too awkward to cut on site

Elbows, transitions, offsets and takeoffs come out distorted when cut by hand on site, leaking air and creating noise in the line. We make them in the workshop at the right dimensions with tight seams.

  3. 3

Extending or renovating an existing duct network

You need new branches, a damaged section replaced or a fitting that matches an old duct size. We measure the existing network on site and fabricate the pieces to match what is already there.

Who it's for

  • Building a facility that needs non-standard duct sizes

We read your project drawings and fabricate all sections and fittings at exact dimensions from G90 or aluminium sheet, labelled and ready to hang the moment they reach your site.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Take measurements

A technician visits the site or you send us the drawings; we list every duct section needed, its size and the correct sheet thickness for that section.

  2. 2

    Fabricate sections and fittings

We cut, form and lock the sheet in the workshop, including all elbows, transitions, offsets and takeoffs, and each section comes out at its exact dimension.

  3. 3

    Label and prepare for delivery

We number every section and fitting against the assembly plan so the installation crew knows exactly where each piece goes, with no guessing on site.

  4. 4

    Deliver to site

We deliver the duct to your Jeddah site protected and ready to hang. If you need an installation crew, we can arrange that as a separate step.

What sets this district apart

Kinanah is a mid-size residential and commercial district with apartment buildings, small offices and clinics, mostly designed for relatively straightforward central AC systems. The buildings here have moderate heights and sensible layouts, allowing efficient central duct runs. On-site cutting cannot achieve the precise dimensions and tight joints needed for airtight operation and energy efficiency. Workshop fabrication from drawings or field measurements delivers high efficiency and meets the installation schedule.

Kinanah, in east Jeddah, is home to mid-size apartment buildings, clinics and small offices.

Most central systems in Kinanah use rectangular metal duct of moderate size running from a single plant room to several wings.

The AC setup in Kinanah

  1. 1

    Simple central rectangular duct

Most apartment buildings and offices in Kinanah use a single rectangular network extending from the plant room to each floor's wings.

  2. 2

Round duct for branches and connections

Branches from the main network to individual rooms are typically round duct, lighter and easier to install and insulate.

  3. 3

    External thermal and acoustic insulation

Duct is wrapped with external insulation to reduce heat loss and noise, essential in this hot and humid climate.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Kinanah

  1. 1

Send drawings or confirm they are ready

Send the basic mechanical drawings from the engineer or contractor, or let us know they are ready.

  2. 2

Confirm plant room location and main route

Tell us where the plant room will be (usually on the roof or ground floor) and where the main duct will run.

  3. 3

Schedule a measurement visit if needed

If drawings are not ready, schedule a time for our team to visit and take site measurements before we fabricate.

FAQ

Questions about Duct fabrication

Can you fabricate from drawings without visiting the site?

Yes, when the drawings are clear and carry the actual as-built dimensions. If a dimension is uncertain or a field change has been made, we prefer a site visit to avoid a fabricated piece that does not fit. We discuss the better approach with you before starting work.

What is the difference between galvanized and aluminium sheet for duct?

G90 galvanized sheet is the standard choice for interior duct: strong and suited to a range of pressures. Aluminium is lighter and handles Jeddah's coastal humidity and salt air better, making it right for some exposed applications or where structural load is a limiting factor. The correct choice depends on the site.

Can you make elbows and transitions to match an existing duct network?

Yes. We measure the existing network on site to match sizes precisely, whether you need a new branch added, a damaged fitting replaced or an extension tied into the original ductwork. The right approach is confirmed after the site visit.

How do you choose sheet thickness for each section?

Thickness follows section size: a large duct needs heavier sheet to hold its shape under pressure, a small one can use lighter material. We apply the SMACNA requirements to each section in the project individually, not a single thickness across the whole job.

Does Jeddah's humidity and salt air affect which sheet material to use?

Yes, particularly for sections exposed to outdoor air or installed near fresh-air intakes. G90 galvanized sheet performs well inside the building, but aluminium is the better choice where duct is in continuous contact with Jeddah's humid, salt-laden air. The site survey determines the right material for each section.

Apartment buildings here are mid-size; does central duct work for them?

Yes, we fabricate straightforward and efficient central duct systems that serve mid-size buildings of 10 to 15 flats from a single plant room with high efficiency.

Do small offices and clinics need simple or complex duct?

They need relatively simple duct, but it must be measured precisely to avoid pressure drop and air loss during distribution.

East Jeddah is humid and coastal; will metal duct rust quickly?

We use high-grade G90 galvanised or aluminium, both resistant to rapid rust in coastal humidity.

Can the duct be tested before installation to ensure no leakage?

Yes, duct fabricated in the workshop with precise design and tight joints minimises leakage to below 2 per cent of capacity, and proper installation maintains this.
