When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Hazza'iyah is a developed residential and commercial district in north-east Jeddah, home to hospitals and medical centres surrounded by modern residential blocks. Hospital AC systems here serve operating theatres, intensive care units and laboratories, each needing separate control to meet medical safety standards, with easy access for the team and equipment during maintenance emergencies.

Al Hazza'iyah lies in north-east Jeddah, a mixed district of modern housing and medical and commercial facilities.

Hospital systems here are typically centralised with separate air-handling units for each sensitive medical department.

The AC setup in Al Hazza'iyah

  1. 1

    Multi-zone centralised system

Hospital systems here are typically centralised with separate air handlers for each critical department, allowing independent control per medical zone.

  2. 2

    High-efficiency air-handling units

Hospitals need multi-stage filter units with precision cooling for theatres and ICU, requiring regular maintenance of filters and coils.

  3. 3

    Backup emergency cooling

Larger hospitals in Al Hazza'iyah may need additional standby units or backup generators to ensure critical areas never lose cooling.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Hazza'iyah

  1. 1

Coordinate maintenance time with medical administration

Tell us the surgical and ICU schedules beforehand so we can time the visit to avoid clashing with patient care.

  2. 2

Confirm team and equipment access points

Make sure the team knows the safe access routes separate from clinics and critical areas, and where to stage equipment near the plant room.

  3. 3

Provide access to the plant room and rooftop

Check that keys to the plant room and rooftop are available beforehand, and notify the hospital guard of our arrival for smooth access.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

How do you service the operating theatre AC without closing the department?

We schedule maintenance in phases with the medical administration, servicing less critical areas first then moving to high-risk zones around the surgery schedule, so cooling continues unbroken.

Does the team's access and heavy equipment need special coordination with hospital management?

Yes, we agree with hospital management on the team's access routes and equipment staging points away from clinics and sensitive areas, and on safe delivery times.

Does Jeddah's high humidity affect intensive care ward standards?

Yes, coastal humidity affects climate precision in ICU and theatre zones, so we design extra dehumidification and schedule regular filter cleaning.

Does the rooftop outdoor unit need regular safety checks?

Yes, we regularly inspect the rooftop unit for safe mounting, wiring, pipework and dust clearance, especially in the coastal environment.
