When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Bashaer is a growing neighbourhood mixing residential buildings with small and mid-sized commercial premises, where shops are often embedded in ground floors below residential flats. External heat and humidity hit small shops hard, and seasonal holiday crowds push AC demand unpredictably. The cooling system must be cost-effective and flexible, serving small shops that may contract shared or independent maintenance.

Al Bashaer sits in east Jeddah's mixed residential-commercial zone, a growing district blending residential buildings with small ground-floor retail frontages.

Most shops in Al Bashaer use independent split units per shop, with rare cases of small shared central cooling between adjacent tenants.

The AC setup in Al Bashaer

  1. 1

    Independent split per small shop

Most small shops in Al Bashaer have their own independent split unit because shop frontages are tightly bounded.

  2. 2

Shared cooling for a few adjacent shops

In rare cases, historically adjoining shops may share a small central unit distributed between them.

  3. 3

Upgraded window unit for very tight shops

Very small ground-floor shops may use upgraded window units when no outdoor space exists for a split.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Bashaer

  1. 1

Identify the outdoor unit location on wall or ledge

Confirm exactly where the outdoor unit will sit (side wall, small ledge, or window).

  2. 2

Coordinate with residents above if needed

If the outdoor unit is near the flats' windows, notify residents in advance of installation and maintenance dates.

  3. 3

    Tell us your shop hours

Let us know your trading hours so we pick the most convenient time for your schedule.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

My shop is under a flat, does loud AC disturb the residents?

We choose outdoor split units with low noise levels and recommend mounting them on walls away from the flats' windows.

My shop is tight and the door stays open all day, is the AC enough?

We measure indoor and external heat loads and select a unit with sufficient capacity to offset the cool air lost from an open door.

Humidity is high and the shop feels damp, will better AC dry it out?

Yes, a correctly sized unit with clean filters removes moisture from the air effectively, making the shop drier and more comfortable.

I own the building with multiple shops, can we do unified maintenance cheaper?

Yes, we offer unified maintenance contracts for buildings with multiple shops covering all units at a lower cost than separate individual contracts.
