When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Hindawiyah is older than the northern districts, with tightly packed buildings holding small ground-floor shops and residential flats above in very confined spaces. Shops are compact and crowded with goods and customers, and old buildings cannot support complex central systems because ceilings are low and there is no plant room. Heat and customer crowds demand efficient, responsive cooling, and maintenance must be simple and quick because shops cannot afford long downtime.

Al Hindawiyah lies in Jeddah's historic downtown, an older district of tightly built residential and commercial blocks around traditional markets.

Most small shops and retail here use separate split units or window ACs because spaces are very tight and cannot accommodate complex ducting.

The AC setup in Al Hindawiyah

  1. 1

Single or dual split units for small retail

Small shops in Al Hindawiyah use one or two split units to cool tight spaces quickly and simply.

  2. 2

Window unit in some very old shops

Some of the oldest and tightest shops have not upgraded to splits yet and still use simple window units that are easy to replace.

  3. 3

    Refurbished units at lower cost

Many shop owners choose refurbished units from trusted brands to reduce upfront cost, and our team ensures they are safe and efficient.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Hindawiyah

  1. 1

Identify the outdoor unit wall location

Make sure the outer wall is safe and clear of obstacles (wires, pipes, lights), and let us know if the wall is shared with a neighbouring shop.

  2. 2

Arrange visit time with the shop owner

Shops are always busy, so set a time that suits trading hours or a brief closure period, and brief the team on any access difficulties.

  3. 3

Prepare the electrical isolator and connections

Locate the main circuit breaker and check available capacity, and confirm whether the wiring needs upgrade before our visit.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

My shop is tiny in an old building, is one split unit enough?

Yes, a single split unit is usually adequate for small shops if it has the right capacity. We choose the size based on shop area, occupancy numbers and amount of stored goods.

The street is crowded and the outdoor unit must go on the outer wall, how do you secure it safely?

We secure the outdoor unit on sturdy metal brackets, following established standards, at a height that keeps it away from pedestrians. We check wall strength and anchor points before installation.

We have high humidity and the shop is always crowded, does water build up easily?

Yes, coastal humidity and shop crowding increase water pooling in the drain pan. We choose a unit with a larger drain pan, slope the drainage line correctly, and clean it regularly.

My shop's electrics are very old, is the AC safe?

We check the safety of connections and the circuit breaker before installation. If the electrics are too weak or unsafe, we suggest upgrading the isolator or consulting a licensed electrician before we proceed.
