Retail cooling without downtime
Mall & retail HVAC in Al Khalidiyah
In Al Khalidiyah, west Jeddah, small shops and offices contend with heat, high humidity and constant foot traffic. A professional AC system compensates for heat loss from open doors and needs regular cleaning.
- Separate tenants
- Rooftop packaged

When you need a retail HVAC specialist
- 1
A new mall or shopping centre
A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.
- 2
An existing shop with uneven cooling
The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.
- 3
Condensate dripping on shelves or display
A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.
Who it's for
Opening a new shop inside a mall
We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.
Ask on WhatsAppManaging an existing commercial complex
We review the existing system and set a preventive and corrective maintenance contract scheduled outside trading hours so tenants are not affected.

How we work
How we work
- 1
Site survey and loads
We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.
- 2
Design and materials
We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.
- 3
Installation coordinated on site
We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.
- 4
Start-up and maintenance contract
We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.
Designed for the space or just fitted?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| Air distribution | Load study per zone | One unit for the whole space |
| Ductwork | G90 sheet, sized for the job | Off-the-shelf wrong size |
| Condensate | Dedicated line away from stock | Risk of drips on shelves |
| Maintenance | Scheduled outside shop hours | Surprise outage during trade |
| Copper purity | Mueller copper, 99% pure, no welds | Unspecified pipe source |

What sets this district apart
Al Khalidiyah, west Jeddah, mixes diverse retail, small offices and cafés in mid-age buildings with residential flats, and its proximity to the sea means high humidity that affects AC performance. Most shops are in older buildings that cannot take complex central systems, so standalone units are standard and need frequent maintenance to clean filters and drain coastal moisture, with precise tuning to handle open doors and steady foot traffic.
Al Khalidiyah lies in west Jeddah near the coast, a district of mixed retail shops and small offices in older buildings with direct exposure to sea moisture.
Standalone split units and compact systems are the default in Al Khalidiyah, requiring frequent cleaning because of high coastal humidity.
The AC setup in Al Khalidiyah
- 1
Independent split with moisture protection
Most shops in Al Khalidiyah have a standalone split requiring frequent maintenance to shield the coil and drain from sea moisture.
- 2
Compact packages on external walls
Some larger offices and shops use compact packages on external walls, saving internal space and more easily offsetting open-door heat loss.
- 3
Enhanced drainage and upgraded filters for coastal air
Because of high humidity and salt in coastal air, we use better filters and larger drain pans and may recommend an extra sump pump.

FAQ
Questions about Mall & retail HVAC
How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?
An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.
Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?
Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.
Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?
A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.
How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?
Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.
Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?
The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.
Sea humidity damages my stock and clogs filters, how do you protect the AC?
We clean and replace filters monthly or every two months depending on use, ensure the condensate pan drains properly, and inspect the coil for mould regularly.
My shop is on a busy street with doors always open, will the AC be sufficient?
We size the space and open doors, and usually recommend stepping up capacity or adding a second small unit in severe cases.
Al Khalidiyah streets are narrow and busy, can you get equipment in?
Yes, but we need to coordinate in advance to find the nearest parking point and best visit time to avoid congestion.
The building is old and wiring is weak, can you install the AC?
We inspect the circuit before installing, and if it is weak we recommend a new dedicated circuit by a licensed electrician to ensure safe operation.
