When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Zahra is a modern seaside or near-shore district with malls amid contemporary retail shops, and the coastal location means high relative humidity year-round and salt in the air that corrodes metals and finishes. Heavy crowds and heat from bodies, lighting and doors call for a powerful AC unit and highly efficient drainage. Regular inspection and cleaning of outdoor units to remove salt and debris is essential for performance and longevity.

Al Zahra sits in coastal west Jeddah with malls and high commercial activity under constant coastal salt and moisture effects.

AC systems in Al Zahra are typically centralised with large outdoor units facing the sea or near it, and need more frequent cleaning of salt and corrosion than inland districts.

The AC setup in Al Zahra

  1. 1

Centralised system with salt and moisture protection

Outdoor units are coated with salt-resistant paint and materials, often mounted elevated to avoid direct moisture and sea spray runoff.

  2. 2

Robust drainage with secure collection tanks

The drainage system is designed for high capacity with steady-slope lines and collection tanks in safe locations away from sales areas.

  3. 3

    Precise relative humidity monitoring

Humidity sensors distributed throughout the mall monitor moisture continuously and feed data to the control system, which automatically adjusts dehumidification.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Zahra

  1. 1

Inspect the outdoor unit for salt and corrosion

Before the visit, ask for a quick check of the outdoor unit for visible leaks or corrosion so the team brings the right cleaning and protective materials.

  2. 2

Ensure safe access to the roof and units

Ensure mall roofs and routes to the outdoor units are safe and clear of obstacles, especially in areas prone to moisture and salt exposure.

  3. 3

Set up a regular maintenance schedule

Arrange with the team on quarterly visits at minimum for salt cleaning and inspection, plus any emergency calls for unexpected leaks or corrosion.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

Salt from the sea corrodes the outdoor units, how do we protect them?

We apply protective coatings and clean outdoor units every three months to remove salt and debris. Regular inspection catches corrosion early before it harms performance.

Coastal humidity is very high, does it damage the stock?

Yes, excess humidity damages clothing, electronics and packaged food. We design the system with precise humidity monitoring and strong drainage to keep moisture levels down.

Being near the sea increases unit load, do we need larger units?

We measure solar heat, internal load and additional coastal humidity, then size the system slightly higher than inland districts to handle coastal challenges.

Regular maintenance for salt and corrosion, what does it cover?

Cleaning the outdoor unit with brushes and fresh water, inspecting pipes and fittings for corrosion, repainting affected parts if needed, and evacuating and recharging to ensure peak performance.
