When you need a retail HVAC specialist
- 1
A new mall or shopping centre
A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.
- 2
An existing shop with uneven cooling
The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.
- 3
Condensate dripping on shelves or display
A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.
Who it's for
Opening a new shop inside a mall
We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.
Ask on WhatsAppManaging an existing commercial complex
We review the existing system and set a preventive and corrective maintenance contract scheduled outside trading hours so tenants are not affected.

- Maintenance contracts off peak
How we work
How we work
- 1
Site survey and loads
We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.
- 2
Design and materials
We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.
- 3
Installation coordinated on site
We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.
- 4
Start-up and maintenance contract
We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.
Designed for the space or just fitted?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| Air distribution | Load study per zone | One unit for the whole space |
| Ductwork | G90 sheet, sized for the job | Off-the-shelf wrong size |
| Condensate | Dedicated line away from stock | Risk of drips on shelves |
| Maintenance | Scheduled outside shop hours | Surprise outage during trade |
| Copper purity | Mueller copper, 99% pure, no welds | Unspecified pipe source |

What sets this district apart
Al Rabwah's malls and retail shops sit in modern buildings with broad glazed frontages and high ceilings, raising the thermal load especially in early morning and evening hours. Large windows and repeated door openings let hot outside air in rapidly, so the AC must rebalance quickly. Proper water drainage is vital in shops and stockrooms to protect goods and floors, and maintenance must happen during store closures.
Al Rabwah sits in central Jeddah, a district of modern malls and retail chains with contemporary architecture.
Most malls and larger retail shops run central AC systems with ductwork distributed across ceilings and internal walls.
The AC setup in Al Rabwah
- 1
Central AC with distributed ductwork
Modern malls in Al Rabwah use central systems feeding shops, corridors and stockrooms from one or more outdoor units.
- 2
Split units for independent shops
Some leased shops with separate entrances prefer their own split unit for better climate control and cost management.
- 3
Centralized protected drainage
Drain lines collect condensate from different AC units and route it to designated sumps within the mall or outside.
Before the visit
Before our visit in Al Rabwah
- 1
Get the mall management approval first
No installation or maintenance can start without the mall management's approval, since work may affect customer flow or neighbouring shops.
- 2
Tell us where the outdoor units and ducts are
Provide us with a map or photos showing outdoor unit locations, false ceilings and ductwork routes.
- 3
Schedule visits during store closure hours
Ensure the visit time falls after store closing or before opening, to avoid disrupting customers and staff.

FAQ
Questions about Mall & retail HVAC
How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?
An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.
Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?
Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.
Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?
A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.
How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?
Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.
Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?
The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.
Our mall is constantly exposed to the sun, how does AC handle the thermal load?
We size the system above the baseline load to absorb heat peaks from sun, open doors, strong lighting and foot traffic. We choose units with adequate capacity and balance the distribution across the mall zones.
The street is narrow and shops are close together, where do the outdoor units go?
We mount outdoor units on roofs or rear walls depending on the mall's design. We coordinate with the mall management to find the best spot away from foot traffic and the main entrance.
Jeddah's high temperatures affect AC lifespan, do we need more frequent maintenance?
Yes, sustained heat and heavy mall loads require maintenance every two to three months: coil and filter cleaning, and performance checks. We will agree a maintenance schedule in the quote.
Draining AC condensate in shops and storage is critical, how do you prevent water leaking onto goods?
We design drain lines with proper slope towards a designated drain, and use insulated pipes to prevent external condensation. We coordinate with the shop on safe discharge points away from goods and floor areas.
