When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Shama'il is a mixed district of small offices, diverse retail shops and residential buildings with some open courtyards, where many shops occupy shared buildings that do not easily accommodate a unified central AC system. This means most shops rely on independent splits or local units, requiring regular maintenance suited to each shop's different working hours and the heat load from their doors.

Al Shama'il lies in north-east Jeddah, a district of small commercial offices and diverse retail shops with mixed building types and small courtyards between them.

Independent split units dominate Al Shama'il because most shops do not share ducting with neighbours.

The AC setup in Al Shama'il

  1. 1

    Independent split per shop

Most shops in Al Shama'il have their own split unit because working hours and heat loads vary from shop to shop.

  2. 2

    Compact package units for offices

Some larger offices and shops use compact rooftop or wall-mounted package units, saving internal space and giving better air spread.

  3. 3

    Short, limited duct runs

Given the shop spaces are tight, duct runs are typically short and limited, which speeds installation and maintenance but needs precise balancing for even air spread.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shama'il

  1. 1

    Confirm outdoor unit location

Make sure you know where the outdoor unit will sit, whether on your facade, a corner or roof, and that it won't affect neighbours' shops or offices.

  2. 2

Clear the shop entrance and indoor areas

Clear your entrance and the areas where indoor piping will run of stock and furniture to speed up installation and securing.

  3. 3

Tell us your shop size and door setup

Give us rough dimensions and door count (single, double, open frontage) so we can assess the right capacity.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

I have a small shop in a shared building, can you install a split without disturbing neighbours?

Yes, we mount outdoor units on your facade or designated corners, and route the indoor piping so it does not interfere with neighbours' units.

My shop hours are irregular, can you service early or late?

We schedule maintenance to fit you, whether early before you open or late after closing.

My shop doors are open all day, will one AC unit be enough?

We assess your space, the number of doors and operating hours, and recommend capacity that makes up for heat loss without wasting energy.

My shop's glass frontage heats up a lot, does that strain the AC?

Yes, glass frontages significantly increase heat load, especially at midday, which is why we recommend stepping up unit capacity or adding external thermal films in severe cases.
