When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Quwaizah is an emerging commercial zone with medium retail strips, wide streets and good parking. Shops here are medium-sized with moderate glass frontages and lighter heat loads than large malls but heavier than small craft units. Summer sun intensifies on east and south-facing strips, and the system must handle seasonal swings. Installation is relatively straightforward because there is adequate space and regular layout.

Quwaizah sits in south Jeddah, an emerging commercial zone with medium strips and regular streets.

Most Quwaizah strips use either a robust split for a single shop or a simple central unit for shared strips, because spaces are medium and streets are wide.

The AC setup in Quwaizah

  1. 1

Robust split unit per shop in the strip

If each shop has its own unit, we install a robust split with high efficiency rating, completely independent from neighbouring shops.

  2. 2

Distributed central system for shared strips

If the strip is shared, we install a distributed central system with shared heat units and piped zones for each shop.

  3. 3

    External thermal insulation system

For east and south-facing strips exposed to intense sun, we recommend reflective film on glass or motorised external shades.

Before the visit

Bring a layout drawing of the strip showing the number of shops and total area per section.

  2. 2

Coordinate with the strip management or owner

Inform the strip owner or manager of the visit, especially if the system is shared or affects other shops.

  3. 3

Confirm outdoor unit locations on the roof

Check that the roof has sufficient space for outdoor units, away from structural members or obstacles.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

My shop is part of a shared commercial strip, how does the AC work?

If the strip is shared, each shop may have its own unit or share a distributed central system. We coordinate with the strip management to arrange the best setup.

Summer sun heats the facade severely, does this spike the power bill?

Yes, direct sun raises the load significantly and increases the bill. We recommend reflective film or external shades alongside an efficient AC system.

Can the system be expanded if I open another shop in the strip?

Yes, we design the system with flexibility to add a unit or coil later. We use expandable ducts and wiring.

Who pays for maintenance on a shared commercial strip?

If the AC is shared, maintenance costs are split between shop owners as agreed. We recommend a unified maintenance contract.
