Retail cooling without downtime
Mall & retail HVAC in Taiba
In Taiba, north-east Jeddah, retail spaces face shifting heat loads as doors open to the outdoor temperature, lighting runs heavy, and footfall rises and falls throughout the day. Alrabih designs and installs systems that adapt to these swings, protect stock from moisture, and are serviced at times that do not disrupt trading.

When you need a retail HVAC specialist
- 1
A new mall or shopping centre
A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.
- 2
An existing shop with uneven cooling
The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.
- 3
Condensate dripping on shelves or display
A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.
Who it's for
Opening a new shop inside a mall
We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.
Ask on WhatsAppManaging an existing commercial complex
We review the existing system and set a preventive and corrective maintenance contract scheduled outside trading hours so tenants are not affected.

How we work
How we work
- 1
Site survey and loads
We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.
- 2
Design and materials
We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.
- 3
Installation coordinated on site
We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.
- 4
Start-up and maintenance contract
We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.
Designed for the space or just fitted?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| Air distribution | Load study per zone | One unit for the whole space |
| Ductwork | G90 sheet, sized for the job | Off-the-shelf wrong size |
| Condensate | Dedicated line away from stock | Risk of drips on shelves |
| Maintenance | Scheduled outside shop hours | Surprise outage during trade |
| Copper purity | Mueller copper, 99% pure, no welds | Unspecified pipe source |

What sets this district apart
Taiba is a rapidly expanding district with medium-sized malls and retail shops alongside growing residential blocks, served by modern street layout and reasonable parking. Retailers here operate long hours and draw varied daily crowds, requiring HVAC systems that handle both extreme heat peaks and coastal humidity at once. Coordination with mall management is easier because most projects are under unified management.
Taiba sits in north-east Jeddah, a rapidly expanding zone with modern malls and retail shops alongside growing residential developments.
Most malls and shops in Taiba use multiple outdoor units feeding a central distribution system that covers separate sections.
The AC setup in Taiba
- 1
Multiple outdoor units with central distribution
Malls in Taiba usually need two or more outdoor units to handle extreme heat, with unified distribution that covers all sections.
- 2
Smart multi-zone control system
We install thermostats controlling each section or shop separately, with the option to link zones during peak hours for efficient cooling distribution.
- 3
Robust drains with mould traps
Coastal humidity demands dedicated, secure drains with traps that prevent mould and odour growth in the system.
Before the visit
Before our visit in Taiba
- 1
Confirm how many outdoor units you need
Tell us the mall size and each section's area, so we determine the optimal number of outdoor units and where to mount them on the roof or rear yard.
- 2
Provide safe access to roof and outdoor areas
Make sure the roof and outdoor areas are safe for work and the team can reach them easily during installation and maintenance.
- 3
Agree on maintenance scheduling
We recommend arranging regular maintenance during low-footfall times, such as early morning, since filter and drain cleaning is frequent in humid coastal areas.

FAQ
Questions about Mall & retail HVAC
How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?
An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.
Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?
Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.
Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?
A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.
How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?
Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.
Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?
The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.
Taiba is north-east and near the coast, does humidity affect our retail spaces?
Yes, coastal humidity is high here, so we install outdoor units with extra cooling capacity and schedule filter and drain cleaning on shorter cycles to prevent mould.
Our mall is in a fast-growing area, how do we plan for future expansion?
We install a central system sized to allow adding more outdoor units later without redesigning the entire setup.
Summer heat in Taiba is very extreme, will one outdoor unit be enough?
We measure floor area, heat load and expected footfall, so if the shop is large or the mall is busy, we recommend multiple outdoor units distributed strategically.
Our stock includes fresh food and pastries, how do we maintain quality in this heat and humidity?
We select systems with precise temperature control and strong dehumidification, plus insulated drains that prevent condensation near stock.
