Split AC installation in Al Ma'rifah

In Al Ma'rifah, one of Jeddah's modern northern districts, professional split installation means running the copper lines cleanly, draining correctly, and vacuuming the circuit so you hear no noise and see no drips. Alrabih installs both units with precision from the start.

  • Mueller copper
  • Full vacuum

When you need a proper installer

  1. 1

A new unit for a room or flat

You have bought the unit, or are about to, and want it fitted once, not to find a refrigerant leak or water on the floor a few weeks later. Getting it right first time saves you all of that.

  2. 2

Not sure where the outdoor unit goes

In Jeddah flats the choice is usually the roof, the balcony or the facade. We pick a spot where the condenser gets enough air, a technician can reach it for servicing, and neither noise nor drain water bothers the neighbours.

  3. 3

A past install that went wrong

Weak cooling since day one, water running down the wall, a loud indoor unit. These are usually installation mistakes, not faults in the unit, and our installation is built step by step to avoid them.

Who it's for

  • Moving into a new flat that needs AC

We plan every unit position and copper route in one go, so the whole flat ends up neat and consistent.

    Ask on WhatsApp
  • Fitting AC in a shop or office

We place the units so cool air reaches the entrance and the work area, and arrange outdoor units and drains to suit the shopfront and the building's rules.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the room, where the outdoor unit might go and your district, and we tell you what the job needs before the visit.

  2. 2

    Agree positions and route

On site, the technician agrees the unit positions and the copper and drain route with you before drilling any wall.

  3. 3

    Fit and vacuum

We mount both units, run and insulate the copper, then vacuum the line with a pump and check the joints before releasing the refrigerant held in the outdoor unit.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, measure the air coming out, check the drain flows, then leave the room clean and show you the remote and how to clean the filter.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Ma'rifah is a modern residential district with multi-storey apartment blocks and some enclosed villas, laid out with regular streets and organised urban design. Most blocks have shared roof spaces or common areas for outdoor units, which requires coordination with management or neighbours. The climate is hot and dry, units run efficiently, but poor installation can lead to drainage issues or uneven cooling between flats.

Al Ma'rifah sits in north Jeddah's newer quarter, a modern residential district of multi-storey blocks with regular planned layout.

Most flats in Al Ma'rifah need one or two split units, with outdoor units usually mounted on shared roofs or rear walls.

The AC setup in Al Ma'rifah

  1. 1

One or two splits per flat

Most flats in Al Ma'rifah have one unit covering the lounge and bedrooms, or two separate units for better comfort.

  2. 2

    Outdoor units on shared roofs

Most outdoor units are mounted on shared building roofs, which reduces visual clutter on the facades.

  3. 3

    Typically shorter copper runs

The distance from flat to roof is typically short, so copper runs are not long, reducing pressure issues and efficiency losses.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Ma'rifah

  1. 1

Coordinate with building management on timing

Tell building management the visit time in advance and confirm that the shared roof is accessible and the outdoor unit can be mounted without issues.

  2. 2

Identify where the drain will exit

Check there is a drain point on the roof or near the planned outdoor unit location to avoid water backing up.

  3. 3

Confirm electrical power is available on the roof

Check if electrical supply is available on the roof or nearby, and tell us if a cable extension from the flat will be needed.

FAQ

Questions about Split AC installation

Will you install a unit I bought elsewhere?

Yes, we install units you have bought yourself. Before the visit we ask the model, its capacity and where both units will go, so we know the copper length. If you have not bought one yet, we are an authorised distributor for Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold and can help you choose.

Why does the line need vacuuming before start-up?

New pipes hold air and moisture, and Jeddah's humid air adds more. Mixed with refrigerant, they weaken cooling and strain the compressor over time. We pull them out with a vacuum pump, watch that the reading holds so we know the line is tight, and only then release the refrigerant.

Can the outdoor unit be far from the room?

Yes, within the manufacturer's limits for line length and height difference. We use Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, so there are fewer joints that could leak, and the survey shows whether a long run needs extra refrigerant.

Can you hide the copper and cables in the wall?

It depends on the house. In a new build or during finishing works, the copper can run inside the wall before plastering. In a lived-in home we use neat plastic trunking in the wall colour. We show you the better option for your home at the survey, before any work starts.

What if the outside wall cannot carry the unit?

We check the wall before fixing anything, because some facades are clad in stone or panels that cannot take the weight. Then we set the unit on a floor stand on the roof or balcony, or on a bracket anchored to the concrete itself, not the cladding, so it does not shake loose.

Does split installation in apartment blocks need coordination with building management?

Yes, especially if the outdoor unit goes on the shared roof. We recommend notifying building management in advance of the visit date and agreeing on the mounting location to avoid disputes with neighbours.

My flat is small, do the copper pipes take up a lot of space?

The pipes and insulation together are fairly slim, and we run them along walls or ceilings in a clean line. We coordinate the routing with the flat's décor as much as possible.

Will hot weather in Al Ma'rifah increase electricity use a lot?

Precise installation of the unit, pipes and drainage improves energy efficiency substantially. Choosing the right capacity for flat size ensures no wasted power.

Shared roofs get occasional rain, will the drainage be adequate?

We run the drain line at the right angle toward a collection point or existing roof outlets, and ensure water does not pool around the outdoor unit.
