Split AC installation in Al Salihiyah

In Al Salihiyah, east Jeddah, installing split AC in dense residential blocks requires careful coordination with building management to secure roof and courtyard access. Alrabih's team selects an outdoor unit position that does not disturb residents and ensures proper water drainage.

When you need a proper installer

  1. 1

A new unit for a room or flat

You have bought the unit, or are about to, and want it fitted once, not to find a refrigerant leak or water on the floor a few weeks later. Getting it right first time saves you all of that.

  2. 2

Not sure where the outdoor unit goes

In Jeddah flats the choice is usually the roof, the balcony or the facade. We pick a spot where the condenser gets enough air, a technician can reach it for servicing, and neither noise nor drain water bothers the neighbours.

  3. 3

A past install that went wrong

Weak cooling since day one, water running down the wall, a loud indoor unit. These are usually installation mistakes, not faults in the unit, and our installation is built step by step to avoid them.

Who it's for

  • Moving into a new flat that needs AC

We plan every unit position and copper route in one go, so the whole flat ends up neat and consistent.

    Ask on WhatsApp
  • Fitting AC in a shop or office

We place the units so cool air reaches the entrance and the work area, and arrange outdoor units and drains to suit the shopfront and the building's rules.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the room, where the outdoor unit might go and your district, and we tell you what the job needs before the visit.

  2. 2

    Agree positions and route

On site, the technician agrees the unit positions and the copper and drain route with you before drilling any wall.

  3. 3

    Fit and vacuum

We mount both units, run and insulate the copper, then vacuum the line with a pump and check the joints before releasing the refrigerant held in the outdoor unit.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, measure the air coming out, check the drain flows, then leave the room clean and show you the remote and how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Salihiyah is a dense residential district of mid-rise blocks clustered around narrow courtyards and limited passages. Outdoor units are usually mounted on shared roofs or inner-courtyard walls, so installation requires coordination with building management and residents' agreement on placement. Drainage of condensation may need extra drain lines to prevent water leaking onto lower flats, making this a critical element of proper installation.

Al Salihiyah is in the east, a district of dense, closely packed residential blocks with limited courtyards.

Most outdoor units here are on shared roofs or inner-courtyard walls, with copper runs typically short to medium between the indoor and outdoor units.

The AC setup in Al Salihiyah

  1. 1

Split unit with outdoor on shared roof

The main option in Al Salihiyah, where the outdoor unit is mounted on the shared roof after building management and residents agree.

  2. 2

Split unit with outdoor on inner-courtyard wall

When roof access is limited, the outdoor unit may be mounted on the inner-courtyard wall provided it is away from flat windows.

  3. 3

Dedicated drain pipe to prevent water leaks

Each unit needs a separate drain pipe that slopes correctly from the indoor unit to a safe outlet in the courtyard or outside the building.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Salihiyah

  1. 1

    Contact building management in advance

Tell management about the installation request and share the manager's number so our team can coordinate the visit time and outdoor unit location.

  2. 2

    Get neighbouring residents' agreement

If the outdoor unit will be on a shared roof or wall, get neighbouring residents' approval to avoid later objections.

  3. 3

    Identify a suitable drain outlet

Identify a safe route for the drain pipe, whether to a courtyard outlet or down an outer wall below the building, to prevent water dripping on lower flats.

FAQ

Questions about Split AC installation

Will you install a unit I bought elsewhere?

Yes, we install units you have bought yourself. Before the visit we ask the model, its capacity and where both units will go, so we know the copper length. If you have not bought one yet, we are an authorised distributor for Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold and can help you choose.

Why does the line need vacuuming before start-up?

New pipes hold air and moisture, and Jeddah's humid air adds more. Mixed with refrigerant, they weaken cooling and strain the compressor over time. We pull them out with a vacuum pump, watch that the reading holds so we know the line is tight, and only then release the refrigerant.

Can the outdoor unit be far from the room?

Yes, within the manufacturer's limits for line length and height difference. We use Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, so there are fewer joints that could leak, and the survey shows whether a long run needs extra refrigerant.

Can you hide the copper and cables in the wall?

It depends on the house. In a new build or during finishing works, the copper can run inside the wall before plastering. In a lived-in home we use neat plastic trunking in the wall colour. We show you the better option for your home at the survey, before any work starts.

What if the outside wall cannot carry the unit?

We check the wall before fixing anything, because some facades are clad in stone or panels that cannot take the weight. Then we set the unit on a floor stand on the roof or balcony, or on a bracket anchored to the concrete itself, not the cladding, so it does not shake loose.

Roofs are shared between residents; how do you agree on the outdoor unit position?

We contact building management before installation to find a suitable position that does not disturb residents. If residents object, we explore an alternative or offer a second option.

The courtyard is tight; can you run pipes and cables without blocking the passages?

We route pipes and cables to keep internal passages clear, mounting them carefully on inner walls or ceilings. We avoid any obstruction in shared courtyards or under windows.

Humidity and heat are high here because of the tight courtyards; does this affect unit choice?

Yes, tight courtyards restrict natural airflow, so the outdoor unit needs a position allowing the best possible ventilation. We select units with sufficient cooling capacity to handle the trapped heat and humidity.

Condensation from the AC drips onto the flat below; how do you solve this?

We run an insulated drain pipe from the indoor unit to a safe outlet in the courtyard or on the outer wall, ensuring the pipe slopes at the correct angle to prevent water pooling.
