Split AC installation in Harat Al Bahar

In Harat Al Bahar, in old downtown Jeddah, split installation is challenging because of building age, narrow facades and tight spaces. Alrabih's team carefully studies the site to find the best copper and drain route, then vacuums the line before start-up for safe, efficient cooling.

  • Mueller copper
  • Full vacuum
  • Proper drain

When you need a proper installer

  1. 1

A new unit for a room or flat

You have bought the unit, or are about to, and want it fitted once, not to find a refrigerant leak or water on the floor a few weeks later. Getting it right first time saves you all of that.

  2. 2

Not sure where the outdoor unit goes

In Jeddah flats the choice is usually the roof, the balcony or the facade. We pick a spot where the condenser gets enough air, a technician can reach it for servicing, and neither noise nor drain water bothers the neighbours.

  3. 3

A past install that went wrong

Weak cooling since day one, water running down the wall, a loud indoor unit. These are usually installation mistakes, not faults in the unit, and our installation is built step by step to avoid them.

Who it's for

  • Moving into a new flat that needs AC

We plan every unit position and copper route in one go, so the whole flat ends up neat and consistent.

    Ask on WhatsApp
  • Fitting AC in a shop or office

We place the units so cool air reaches the entrance and the work area, and arrange outdoor units and drains to suit the shopfront and the building's rules.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the room, where the outdoor unit might go and your district, and we tell you what the job needs before the visit.

  2. 2

    Agree positions and route

On site, the technician agrees the unit positions and the copper and drain route with you before drilling any wall.

  3. 3

    Fit and vacuum

We mount both units, run and insulate the copper, then vacuum the line with a pump and check the joints before releasing the refrigerant held in the outdoor unit.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, measure the air coming out, check the drain flows, then leave the room clean and show you the remote and how to clean the filter.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Harat Al Bahar is among Jeddah's oldest neighbourhoods, with tightly built historic blocks, narrow facades and small flats stacked with commercial spaces across multiple floors. These old buildings rarely offer wide balconies or large open areas, making outdoor unit placement complicated, and copper and drain lines may need to run through narrow walls or interior ceilings. High coastal humidity and proximity to the sea make good insulation and proper drainage critical to prevent corrosion and moisture.

Harat Al Bahar sits in historic downtown Jeddah near the waterfront, a district of tight historic blocks with small residential flats.

Most flats here are small and fit only one split unit, with outdoor units typically mounted on narrow facades or very small balconies.

The AC setup in Harat Al Bahar

  1. 1

    One split per small flat

Small flats in Harat Al Bahar typically fit only one split unit, usually mounted in the main living area or bedroom.

  2. 2

    Outdoor units on narrow facades

Outdoor units mount on narrow facades or tiny balconies, sometimes on shared roofs with neighbours.

  3. 3

Short copper runs through interior walls

Short distances between units mean short but complex copper runs threaded through narrow walls and ceilings.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Harat Al Bahar

  1. 1

Confirm outdoor unit location with neighbours

If the facade is shared with a neighbour or the roof is communal, get their agreement before the visit to avoid later disputes.

  2. 2

Clear the path for the indoor unit and copper

Make sure the planned space for the indoor unit and walls meant for copper routing are clear of furniture and obstacles.

  3. 3

Identify the nearest safe parking point

Tell us the nearest point the team can safely park given the narrow streets, and warn of any barriers or restricted traffic hours.

FAQ

Questions about Split AC installation

Will you install a unit I bought elsewhere?

Yes, we install units you have bought yourself. Before the visit we ask the model, its capacity and where both units will go, so we know the copper length. If you have not bought one yet, we are an authorised distributor for Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold and can help you choose.

Why does the line need vacuuming before start-up?

New pipes hold air and moisture, and Jeddah's humid air adds more. Mixed with refrigerant, they weaken cooling and strain the compressor over time. We pull them out with a vacuum pump, watch that the reading holds so we know the line is tight, and only then release the refrigerant.

Can the outdoor unit be far from the room?

Yes, within the manufacturer's limits for line length and height difference. We use Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, so there are fewer joints that could leak, and the survey shows whether a long run needs extra refrigerant.

Can you hide the copper and cables in the wall?

It depends on the house. In a new build or during finishing works, the copper can run inside the wall before plastering. In a lived-in home we use neat plastic trunking in the wall colour. We show you the better option for your home at the survey, before any work starts.

What if the outside wall cannot carry the unit?

We check the wall before fixing anything, because some facades are clad in stone or panels that cannot take the weight. Then we set the unit on a floor stand on the roof or balcony, or on a bracket anchored to the concrete itself, not the cladding, so it does not shake loose.

The building is very old, can you install a split despite the tight space?

Yes, we have experience with old buildings. We study the site carefully and find the best route for unit placement without damaging historic walls.

The streets here are very narrow and tightly packed, how do you get equipment in?

Our team carries equipment by hand when needed and agrees the nearest parking point with you beforehand, and we coordinate with neighbours to ease access.

Being near the sea increases humidity and salt, does this affect the new split?

Yes, humidity and salt speed corrosion. We choose corrosion-resistant materials and recommend regular cleaning of the outdoor unit to extend its life.

Space is very tight, how do you route copper and drain without problems?

We survey the building first and choose the best route through walls or ceilings, use strong insulated piping, and vacuum the copper before start-up to prevent leaks.
