When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Marj is a relatively modern neighbourhood mixing villas with multi-unit residential blocks and varying window sizes across different facades. Many residents choose a window unit to save costs or because space does not allow an outdoor split mounting. Because Al Marj lies near the coast with seasonal winds, proper sealing of the gaps around the frame is vital to keep out hot air, moisture and salt spray seeping indoors.

Al Marj lies in east Jeddah, a modern neighbourhood of mixed residential buildings near the coast and salt-laden winds.

Most Al Marj windows are modern standard with aluminium or brown frames, but gaps around the opening need strong sealing against coastal moisture.

The AC setup in Al Marj

  1. 1

Standard window unit in larger openings

The larger windows in Al Marj's modern villas and blocks usually fit a standard window unit, making installation and tight sealing straightforward.

  2. 2

Compact window unit in small flats

Some smaller flats in Al Marj need a compact unit or frame adjustment to ensure secure fitting without slipping.

  3. 3

Privacy protection with metal frame or screen

Many Al Marj residents prefer adding a metal frame or screen around the unit for privacy and facade aesthetics.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Marj

  2. 2

    Measure the window opening accurately

Send us a clear photo and exact measurements of the window opening, width, height and depth, via WhatsApp before the appointment to confirm fit.

  3. 3

Prepare safe access to the exterior

If the window is high or on an upper floor, ensure safe scaffolding or a platform is available for the team to work safely from outside.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My window faces the sea directly, can a window AC handle salty air?

Yes, but tight sealing of the gaps around the frame is essential, and we use salt and moisture-resistant materials to protect both the unit and your interior walls.

My flat is divided between several owners, how do we coordinate the installation?

Before the visit, ensure all co-owners have approved the installation and the window being used, and let us know who will be responsible for maintenance later.

Humidity in Al Marj is very high, does that affect the window unit's performance?

Proper sealing and drainage help the unit manage humidity efficiently, but coastal humidity may require more frequent cleaning of the air filter and coils.

Where does the condensate drain after installation?

The unit is tilted slightly outward so condensate flows to the street or garden, not down your interior wall or foundation.
