Retail cooling without downtime
Mall & retail HVAC in Al Salamah
In Al Salamah, west Jeddah, retail HVAC handles a shifting heat load every hour, doors opening to the heat, bright lighting and crowds that swell and thin throughout the day. Alrabih designs a system that absorbs those swings, keeps the space dry and maintains it at times that do not interrupt trading.

When you need a retail HVAC specialist
- 1
A new mall or shopping centre
A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.
- 2
An existing shop with uneven cooling
The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.
- 3
Condensate dripping on shelves or display
A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.
Who it's for
Opening a new shop inside a mall
We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

We review the existing system and set a preventive and corrective maintenance contract scheduled outside trading hours so tenants are not affected.

How we work
How we work
- 1
Site survey and loads
We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.
- 2
Design and materials
We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.
- 3
Installation coordinated on site
We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.
- 4
Start-up and maintenance contract
We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

| Condensate | Dedicated line away from stock | Risk of drips on shelves |
| Maintenance | Scheduled outside shop hours | Surprise outage during trade |
| Copper purity | Mueller copper, 99% pure, no welds | Unspecified pipe source |

What sets this district apart
Al Salamah is a mixed residential and commercial zone with modern malls and scattered retail shops along relatively wide streets. The newer malls here typically need strong central HVAC because open spaces leak heat quickly, especially at the main entrance. Smaller shops may run on split or package units, but coordination with mall management is essential since maintenance must happen outside peak trading hours.
Al Salamah lies in west Jeddah, a modern growth zone mixing large shopping complexes with smaller retail shops on a regular street layout.
Most malls and large retail outlets in Al Salamah run central HVAC systems with large air-handling units and extensive duct networks.
The AC setup in Al Salamah
- 1
Multi-zone central HVAC system
Large malls in Al Salamah need thermal zoning because the entrance, corridors and individual shops each have different cooling needs.
- 2
Package units for standalone small shops
Scattered small shops on Al Salamah's commercial streets rely on separate package units mounted on the roof or external wall.
- 3
Air redistribution fans in corridors and open spaces
Corridors and open shop areas need extra fans to keep air distribution even and avoid hot spots.
Before the visit
Before our visit in Al Salamah
- 1
Provide a map of shops and zones
Send us a sketch showing where the shops and different zones are in the mall so we can understand cooling needs before the visit.
- 2
Schedule our visit with mall management
Confirm mall management approves team access, roof entry and technical storage areas before the visit day.
- 3
Ensure outdoor units are safely accessible
Outdoor units are usually on roofs or behind the mall; check that the roof is safe and the ground firm enough for maintenance equipment.

FAQ
Questions about Mall & retail HVAC
How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?
An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.
Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?
Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.
Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?
A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.
How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?
Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.
Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?
The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.
We have a new mall in Al Salamah, how do you design HVAC for open spaces?
Open spaces lose heat quickly, especially at the main doors. We design a strong central system with effective air redistribution that can be tuned to different zones across the mall.
Al Salamah's streets are wide, does that make running refrigerant lines easier?
Yes, the wide streets and broad pavements make access for installation and maintenance easier, and we run the lines more efficiently between indoor and outdoor units.
Central HVAC removes moisture, but our shop has humidity-sensitive goods, can we control the humidity level?
Yes, you can adjust the drain pan and relative humidity in central HVAC through advanced sensors and controls. We test humidity after startup and tune it to your shop's needs.
When can you service the system without affecting our trading hours?
We coordinate with you to service during mall closure or outside peak hours, usually early morning or after closing. We plan preventive maintenance weeks ahead to fit your schedule.
