When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Fayhaa is a mix of modern residential blocks, flats and commercial buildings, many with older windows or metal frames that may be uneven from coastal dust and humidity's effect on the metal. Window AC installation here calls for careful frame assessment and possible levelling before mounting, and every gap must be sealed, since hot winds slip easily through the smallest crack.

Al Fayhaa sits in central Jeddah, a relatively modern residential and commercial district of mid-rise blocks with metal frames vulnerable to coastal climate.

Most Al Fayhaa flats have metal-framed windows that may need levelling before installation, and the distance from window to ground affects the outdoor unit height and drain run.

The AC setup in Al Fayhaa

  1. 1

Window unit in a metal frame

Most Al Fayhaa windows are metal and may need careful assessment and levelling before mounting to prevent hot air entry.

  2. 2

Outdoor condensate drain from the unit

The drain must slope slightly outward away from the flat's wall to prevent moisture seeping inward.

  3. 3

Complete sealing of gaps around the frame

Every gap around the frame is sealed with strong insulation to block hot air, dust and humidity from outside.

Before the visit

Choose a safe outdoor location below the window for the drain pipe, away from foot traffic or neighbouring property.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My metal window frame is old and warped, can you still install a unit in it?

Yes, we inspect the frame first and repair or level it if needed, then mount the unit level and secure. Early assessment prevents drainage issues later.

I am on the fifth floor of an apartment block, can you get the equipment and unit up?

Yes, we bring the unit and equipment up by stairs or lift depending on what is available, and we need to know the floor count and access route beforehand.

Sea breeze and dust slip through the gaps, how do you stop them coming in?

We seal all gaps around the frame with strong insulating and moisture-blocking material, and tilt the unit slightly outward so condensate drains away from the wall.

After installation, do I need regular cleaning or maintenance of the unit?

Yes, cleaning the filter and coil twice per season keeps the unit running well and extends its life in this humid dusty climate.
