When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Fanar is an advanced district with modern commercial and tourism buildings featuring large open spaces and high ceilings, where peak-hour crowds significantly raise heat load. Seasonal winds and coastal humidity affect outdoor condenser performance, requiring regular cleaning and maintenance. Central systems need precise monitoring of pipes, filters and water drainage because large systems grow more complex faster than small units.

Al Fanar is in Jeddah's far north, an advanced district with large commercial and tourism complexes featuring tall buildings.

Large projects here need chillers or central units with very high capacity, and outdoor units are often mounted on tall roofs or spacious rear yards.

The AC setup in Al Fanar

  1. 1

    High-capacity central chiller

Very large projects and hotels in Al Fanar need a central chiller with very high capacity cooling water distributed across the entire building.

  2. 2

    Central unit with multiple circuits

Some projects need a central unit with multiple circuits serving different building sections separately rather than a full chiller.

  3. 3

Outdoor units on tall roofs with robust drainage

Outdoor units are mounted on tall roofs in Al Fanar with robust drainage systems withstanding coastal winds and humidity.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Fanar

  1. 1

Show us building plans and different zones

Bring building plans before our visit so we understand floor layout, different zones and the number of indoor units needed.

  2. 2

Identify rooftop space and outdoor unit placement

Confirm the roof can bear the weight of large outdoor units and pipes, and tell us about any constraints from existing systems.

  3. 3

    Inspect existing water drainage system

Check where rainwater and existing drainage flows, and tell us if it is congested or needs modifications.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

I have a large commercial project, do I need a chiller or central unit?

It depends on floor area, number of storeys and usage. Chillers are more powerful and serve very large multi-storey buildings. We visit the site to assess your actual need before recommending.

Does humid salty air from the sea affect the outdoor condenser?

Yes, humidity and salt speed metal corrosion. We clean the condenser every three months in Al Fanar, using units with rust-resistant coatings.

Large systems are complex, how often do I need maintenance?

We recommend maintenance every month or two for central systems and chillers, with regular checks of pipes, filters and pumps.

Does water drainage from a large central system need special arrangements?

Yes, large central systems produce substantial condensate. We check the existing drainage and add extra pipes and traps to prevent blockages.
